RULES AND REGULATIONS

PERFORMING ARTS EVENTS

1. STAND UP COMEDY (MONOLOGUE COMIQUE)- SOLO
2. ENGLISH SKIT (LE NUMERO) –GROUP

GENERAL RULES

 A video of the event should be shared.
 Video must be shot at one stretch landscape mode.
 Priority & preference will be given to unedited video.
 Clarity of the video must be ensured.
 Participants must not record the video too close to the system. There should be proper Page | 2

distance between the student and the recording equipment.

1. STAND UP COMEDY-SOLO

 Theme: Open choice of the participants
 The act should be presented in English
 The comedy must be original.
 Vulgarity /pun /anti religion /anti nationalism in the speech are strictly restricted.
 No background music is allowed.
 Time limit: 4 minutes

Criteria for awarding grades
 Content
 Humor
 Expression and gestures
 Fluency and pronunciation
 Overall performance
 Dramatic skills
 Overall impact of the performance

2.ENGLISH SKIT-GROUP

 The skit should be in English.
 Each team should consist of 8 participants.
 The duration of the play including introduction should be 10 minutes.
 Theme: Open choice of the participants
 Only positive social themes can be presented. Religious/political/controversial themes are

strictly restricted.
 The theme, costumes, dialogues and make-up should be appropriate for the school level

respecting the culture and traditions of Sultanate of Oman.
 The team should introduce the play by stating its title and theme.
 Appropriate backdrops, props and costumes are recommended.

 Coordination & Overall Impact

3. ACADEMIC SYMPOSIUM (CHERCHEURS COLLOQUE)- GROUP
4. POETRY RECITATION ENGLISH (POESIE CONCERT ENGLISH) – SOLO
5. BOOK REVIEW (CRITIQUE DE LIVRE) – SOLO
6. POETRY RECITATION HINDI (POESIE CONCERT HINDI)- SOLO

GENERAL RULES

 A video of the event should be shared.
 Video must be shot at one stretch landscape mode.
 Priority & preference will be given to unedited video.
 Clarity of the video must be ensured.
 Participants must not record the video too close to the system. There should be proper

distance between the student and the recording equipment.

3.ACADEMIC SYMPOSIUM-GROUP

 Team event- The team should comprise of 3 participants (Including a student meant for
technical support).

 Each team will be given 10 minutes.
 Medium of presentation should be in English.

4.POETRY RECITATION ENGLISH-SOLO

 A video of the recitation should be shared.
 Contestants will recite a poem of their choice.
 Reciting from a script will result in loss of points.
 Nationalistic /religious sentiments should be restricted.
 Time limit: 4 minutes

5. BOOK REVIEW-SOLO

 Book chosen for review should be from English Literature.
 Participants must send the original unpublished work (book review) and the script in word

file must be attached in the mail.
 Plagiarism must be avoided.
 Reading from a script will result in loss of points.
 It should not hurt any nationalistic/religious sentiments.
 Time limit: 4 minutes

Criteria for awarding grades
 Content (introduction & summary)
 Evaluation (critical analysis of the book)
 Fluency & voice modulation
 Pronunciation

6. POETRY RECITATION HINDI-SOLO

 It should not hurt any nationalistic /religious sentiments.
 Props, back drops and sound effects are not recommended
 Participants are requested to be in Indian traditional outfits
 Time Limit: 4 minutes
