Night Out
About
Far too often we hear stories of women who have been
sexually assaulted. Every day we seem to get more and
more aware of the problem, but yet, it keeps happening.
Why? Perhaps it is because we don’t fully understand the
affects it can have on a victim.
When a person is a victim of sexual assault, they feel
powerless. They feel like the control they’ve had over
their life has been taken.
This book follows an unidentified sexual assault victim
as she goes through the process of getting ready for and
experiencing a night out with friends, until something
happens that changes her forever.
My hope is that by seeing the images and reading the
content in this book, you will understand the negative
impact that sexual assault can have on a person. And I
hope that it will encourage you to fight against it.
The night, like any other, begins at home.
You look through your closet to find something to wear.
You start to get ready. You put on
your clothes and your makeup.
Then it’s time to go.
You meet your friends at the bar,
ready to have a fun night.
You have a good time. You have a
few drinks. You do some dancing.
The night progresses.
But then it takes a bad turn.
Your mind is in chaos. You know what’s
happening but you’re too shocked, scared,
and confused to fight back. Eventually it
stops. Eventually it’s over.
Time goes by and you try to go back to
the person you were before, but you can’t.
You’re different now. You’re changed.
So you have to find ways to cope.
To get through it. One day at a time.
