It is quiet under the Gulmohar tree. Eating my lunch, I sit and watch the tree. 2/9
Leaves are falling one by one, Leaves are falling now and then, Leaves are falling near and far, Leaves are falling everywhere. 3/9
Green leaf, yellow leaf, and brown leaf. Speckled leaf, rotten leaf, torn leaf. 4/9
Soon the wind blows and the dance begins. The leaves dance the "leaf dance". 5/9
They stretch their imaginary hands And dance in a circle to the beat of the breeze. Whoosh... Whoosh... Whoosh... 6/9
Some bits of paper join the dance. I see a pink ribbon join the dance. I join the dance too. We all dance the "leaf dance". 7/9
The wind stops blowing. The leaves go to sleep. I hear the school bell ring. I run back to the classroom. 8/9
I will come back tomorrow for the leaf dance. Will you? 9/9

This is a Level 2 book for children who recognize familiar words and can read new words with help. (English) Leaf Dance A child's perspective and their boundless imagination are what I wanted to explore in this story. This story is about a child breaking the monotony of an ordinary day by speckling an everyday occurrence with imagination. I was introduced to the world of "Leaf dance" by my seven-year-old son. Every Thursday after our swim lessons, while we wait at the bus stop under the apricot tree, my son happily observes and dances his "leaf dance". This story was born out of that experience. Pratham Books goes digital to weave a whole new chapter in the realm of multilingual children's stories. Knitting together children, authors, illustrators and publishers. Folding in teachers, and translators. To create a rich fabric of openly licensed multilingual stories for the children of India and the world. Our unique online platform, StoryWeaver, is a playground where children, parents, teachers and librarians can get creative. Come, start weaving today, and help us get a book in every child's hand!
