A Sunday night before bed when it was dark. “Peter and Amanda, time to go to bed, ” mom called out from her cozy and colorful bedroom. “OOOOOOOOOOKAY!” Peter moaned. “Oh! We haven’t packed our school bags!” Amanda murmured to Peter. 2/12

They jumped off the couch, switched off the TV and then cluttered to pack their school bags with books and toys. 3/12

The next day, Mom drove Peter and Amanda to school as usual. It had been a great school day up until Peter’s favorite class, MATH! “Boys and girls, please pull out the Math book from your bags.” Said Miss Swift. “Oh no, ” Peter mumbled to himself while he was trying to look for his book in his school bag, “where is my Math book?” he continued. 4/12

He slowly dumped out everything on the floor from his bag. “Peter, do you really read PHOEBE AND HER UNICORN!” Max, his tablemates laughed and exclaimed. His face turned red, his eyes got big as owl’s eyes and stared at the book and muttered. “Wow! I like reading it!! Sara exulted. Peter was not amused and did a facepalm. 5/12

Miss Swift approached quickly and asked, “Are you alright, Peter? You look a little upset.” “No, I don’t feel so good because I lost my Math book.” Peter moaned sadly. “It’s okay, Peter, ” Miss Swift continued, “what about you can ask someone to share the book with you for today?” 6/12

Miss Swift was busy teaching her class. Peter was creeping along the classroom floor and checked every single cubby. He was disappointed because he couldn’t find his favorite textbook. 7/12

After school, Peter’s mom picked him up and asked, “Peter, how are you doing?” “I have such a bad day! I lost my favorite textbook, ” replied Peter, “I looked everywhere in the classroom, bags and cubbies but still couldn't find it.” “Hmmm… Detective Peter, have you checked home yet?” mom questioned. “No, I haven’t. I’ll check it out later!” Peter replied. 8/12

When they had arrived at home, Peter zoomed to his room, grabbed his magnifying glass and put on his detective hat then started to search from his room. He looked inch by inch to find the textbook in his room, then he visited his parents’ room, scooted to the kitchen, ran to the bathroom, darted to the living room, but no clue. So, he sat on the sofa with disappointment and sighed. 9/12

At the same time, Amanda complained to mom, “My bag was so heavy today!” Peter darted to Amanda and questioned, “say that again?!” Amanda stared at Peter with her mouth wide open and said again, “my bag was so heavy today!” Peter sprinted to Amanda’s school bag, unzipped it and emptied everything. 10/12

He saw his favorite textbook and shouted for joy. Mom came in and grinned, “Make sure to pack your things carefully every night, Detective Peter!” “Yes, Ma'am!” Peter saluted. They all laughed. 11/12

What do you think? Why was Peter’s book in Amanda’s schoolbag? This is an interesting question indeed. 12/12
