The Lonely Whale Shark

The Lonely Whale Shark

The Lonely Whale Shark Author: Mahira Kakajiwala Illustrator: Hoang Anh Thu Cao

2/12 I am a big little whale shark and I am sad on my reef.

3/12 For this turtle has a friend. This jelly sh does too.

4/12 Even these remoras swim together into the blue.

5/12 Why am I the only lonely sh?

6/12 Oh! Look! It is the coming together of whale sharks from everywhere, with very exciting stories to share.

7 / 1 2 I s a w a n o c t o p u s e a t a c r a b. I spoke to a really old sea tu r tle. A shark with sharp teeth tried to a t t a c k m e! Have you seen a sun sh? I saw two on my w a y o v e r h e r e.

8/12 If I look hard, maybe I will see it too. For there is plenty of sh I have bumped into. Whether on the reef or in the open ocean, if I pay attention, there is enough commotion.

9 / 1 2 I h a v e m e t a g r o u p e r wit h a f u n n y b o n e , a n d a s h t h a t I c o n f u s e d f o r a s t o n e. A squid that was terribly shy, and a manta ray that thought it could y!

10/12 I am a big little whale shark...

11/12 and I am not so sad anymore. At least, not as sad as I was before.

12/12 For even though I travel on my own, I am never truly alone.
