Wine Made With Over
250 Years Of Pride,
Knowledge & Passion
Our History
Over 250 years ago Johann Friedrich Deinhard strategically founded his
eponymous wine brand in the city of Koblenz, one of the most important
German trading ports of its time, thus enabling Deinhard to pioneer the trade
of German still and sparkling wines on an international level.
And it was Deinhard’s portfolio of wines, produced from some of Germany’s
best vineyards and terroirs, that helped to establish a worldwide reputation for
excellence, especially for Riesling wines, enjoyed by the entire region still to
this day.
The Mosel area, at the heart of all the German wine regions, with its individual
terroirs and outstanding scenery boasts vineyards such as Berncasteler Doctor
Scharzho erger, Wiltinger Kupp and Wehlener Sonnenuhr, which have always
featured as specialities in the Deinhard portfolio.
Deinhard Green Label has always been at the heart of our brand and
synonymous with Mosel Rieslings and our quality Estate Wines. With their cool
climate style, our bright, fresh and fruit driven wines continue to reflect the
wine tastes of the contemporary consumer.
As one of the oldest wine producers in Germany, we continue to build on our
heritage of the pioneering spirit of our founder. Constantly innovating and
producing our wines with a lion’s pride.
A World-Renowned Brand
Long before the concept of “globalisation” was even considered, Deinhard was
already a firmly established global brand and before WW1 the wines were being
sold through sales subsidiaries across every continent in the world. Quite an
achievement considering the challenges of communication, long distances and
time delays that international trade involved in those times.
Deinhard was indeed a true pioneer, successfully establishing his German wine
in overseas markets such as Canada and the USA, where there was little or no
previous experience of wine at the time.
This pioneering and determined spirit has secured Deinhard’s place in the
history books as the longest established German wine brand on the global
stage, upholding its reputation for excellence and quality all around the world.
Indeed, the outstanding quality of the wines has meant that Deinhard’s still and
sparkling wines have regularly been chosen to be served at royal events (with
connections over the centuries to the royal houses of the German Kaiser and
the British and Swedish royal families) as well as featuring on the wine lists of
the finest restaurants in the world.
