Welcome to Established in 2016, the Monash Chamber Orchestra (MCO) has been a dynamic force, uniting young musicians within the Sunway community. Acting as a catalyst for musical exploration, MCO is not merely an orchestra, but a dynamic platform that facilitates the exchange of musical experiences, providing an array of opportunities for passionate musicians like us devoted to honing our craft. MCO’s footprint is marked by notable performances, including the Triplet Concert in 2019 that brought together musicians from 3 different universities including Monash, Taylor’s and Sunway University. Our annual concerts, including “A Timeless Encounter” in 2019, “A Journey Through Music” in 2021, “Elemental Odyssey” in 2022 and the recent, “Timelapsed” in 2023, showcase the orchestra’s dedication to delivering diverse and impactful musical journeys. President’ s Message President’ s Message Hello Monashians, this is Dantes Siow, serving as Monash Chamber Orchestra's (MCO) President for 2024. I am both humbled and honoured to lead such a talented and empowering group of musicians. All this while, the orchestra has been creating and letting music speak on the campus grounds, providing entertainment and just general vibes. Well, we’re not planning to stop anytime soon. This upcoming season, we’re taking more initiatives to reach out to the public. We’re opening the doors to collaborations as we turn ordinary spaces into extraordinary stages. We’ll break down the barriers between the “musician” and “audience” such that people from all walks of life can experience the magic of orchestral music up close and personal. To all aspiring musicians out there, we welcome everyone who resonate with the thrill of creating music. This orchestra has seats waiting to be taken and stages waiting to be filled. Of course, other than creating music, this is a place of mingling with added shared interest. For those who are already with us, I encourage each of you to actively participate, share your insights, and engage with one another in meaningful ways. Let's work together to make this year truly memorable and set new standards of musical excellence for our orchestra. Lastly, thank you for entrusting me with this leadership role. I am confident that with our collective efforts and unwavering dedication, we’ll create a wonderful stage and leave a lasting impact on all who hear with our music throughout the seasons
Conductor ’ s Message Conductor ’ s Message Greetings to all music enthusiasts! I'm Mr. Chan, the resident conductor of the Monash Chamber Orchestra for the past 8 years. As an orchestra, we have come a long way, exploring a diverse repertoire ranging from baroque to modern contemporary pieces. We place a strong emphasis on ensemble playing, understanding the nuances of music, and developing technical proficiency. But more than that, we believe in fostering a sense of camaraderie and fellowship among our musicians. We're excited to welcome new members to our orchestra in 2024, and we're looking forward to creating beautiful music together. Our orchestra provides a platform for musicians to unleash their creative potential, and we encourage our members to bring their unique perspectives and ideas to the table. As we venture forth into this new musical chapter, let's find our muse in the melodies and harmonies that transcend time itself. Let's strive to be the best versions of ourselves and work towards creating an unforgettable musical experience.
