We could not run the race without the support of local businesses. Our headline
sponsors this year are Jordan-Fishwick, local estate agents for the Half
Marathon and JJ Cookson, local Peugeot dealer, for the 5K. Other sponsors
include Paul Smith Dental Practice, Federal Mogul, Active Cheshire and
Ronhill.

In addition, we would like to thank other local businesses who support the race;
All About Food, Tesco, PZ Cussons, John Honey Physiotherapy, Running
Bear, Lyme Green Co-operative Food, Bryan Dale Photography and
Spartans Explorer Unit.

The race is run wholly by volunteers, led by a team from Macclesfield Harriers,
who give up their time both on race day and in months of preparation to put on
the best race possible for you and raise funds for good causes. I would like to
extend my thanks to the 150 plus people who help to make this a special day
for you, doing jobs ranging from filling goody bags to marshalling around the
course.

Please read the race information carefully and arrive early. You must visit race
registration on the morning of the race to collect your number. The race starts
and finishes on the Athletic Track and all courses are fully marshalled and
marked. Please be in the starting area at least 10 minutes before the start of
your race.

Your safety is paramount, so please read the enclosed race information
carefully before you arrive and obey the instructions from the race marshals at
all times.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday 25th September 2016 for another great
day at the Macclesfield Half Marathon and 5K.

disabilities in apartments and houses in Sutton, Macclesfield and Buxton. The Trust aims
to create an environment where everyone is encouraged to make real choices in their
lives, develop in confidence, enjoy increased independence and reach their full potential.
The Trust has been working with Macclesfield Harriers for a few years. They have
supported us on a number of occasions by making us beneficiaries of their runs such as
the Forest Five and the Langley 7. This year, however they have chosen us to be one of
charities to benefit from their flagship race the ‘Macc-Half Marathon and 5K’.

The event organisers were really impressed by our ‘WorkTatse’ project and its impact on
the lives of the people the Trust supports. Offering opportunities of ‘WorkTaste’,
something most of us take for granted, was something the Harriers felt as passionate
about as us. Neil Gunn, of the Macclesfield-Harriers said they were, ‘proud to be part of
such an exciting project’.

The project offers short term supported work placements for individuals with learning
disabilities and some physical disabilities, giving them opportunities they may not have
access to otherwise. The project is completed funded by the support of donors such as
Macc-Harriers.

WorkTaste Coordinator, Louise Lewis said, “Thank you Macclesfield Harriers for donating
funds from the half-marathon for the WorkTaste project – when one of our tenants says
‘I’m not free on Thursdays, I’ve got my job’, with a big smile on their face, it will be down
to you!

Due to the successes and positive feedback from the 2015 Macc Half Marathon, we have
decided to offer the support of pace runners again. We have increased the size of the
team to included pacers for 2:10 and 2:20 this year.
The team is made up of experienced distance runners from Macclesfield Harriers. For
those of you wishing to utilise them, the pacers offer support and encouragement as you
go around to achieve your target time.

The pace runner times are as follows:

1:30:00 - 1:29:30 Scott Wilson and Billy Hicks will be running around a 6:52 minute
mile pace
1:40:00 - 1:39:30 Rob Hasler and Guénaëlle Piou will be running around a 7:38 mi-
nute mile pace
1:50:00 - 1:49:30 Jonathan Plumb and James Perry will be running around an 8:24
minute mile pace
2:00:00 - 1:59:30 Keith Mulholland and Richard Brown will be running around a 9:10
minute mile pace
2:10:00 - 2:09:30 Lynda J Cook and James Williams will be running around a 9:54 mi-
nute mile pace
2:20:00 - 2:19:30 Rachel Gilliland and Ann Maddox will be running around a 10:40
minute mile pace

On the race day you will clearly see the pacemakers at the start line standing in position
holding flags with their target pace time. Feel free to chat to them before the race starts,
none of them are the quiet type!

All that is left to say is have a great race and good luck!
