HAIR PRESSING
First, I used a clarifying shampoo to remove product build-up. Next, I shampooed
the client’s hair with a moisturizing shampoo and applied a conditioner. I applied
a heat protectant and a serum to her damp hair. I blow dried her hair with a comb
attachment. I took ¼ subsections and flat ironed over each section twice.
6
Feed-in Cornrows
I sectioned the client’s hair in to four subsections. I used Kanekalon braiding hair
to add into her braids. To begin, I started the cornrow with her natural hair then
added in the braiding hair. Each time that I added hair to the braid, I added larger
stands of braiding hair. Using the feed-in method to do cornrows allows for a
more natural appearance.
7
Chignon
First, I curled the entire head in figure-6 curls to add body and structure. Next, I
teased the crown section on the head. I put the client’s hair in a low ponytail and
used bobby pins to create the chignon. I applied Redken’s hairspray to control
flyaways.
8
Color Retouch
I sectioned the client’s hair in to 4 sections. Starting in the lower, righthand
section I took ¼ subsection and applied the to cover the new growth. Since it was
gray-coverage, the client processed for 45 mins.
9
Balayage and Cut
Before I began the color service, I gave the client a diagonal-forward cut. Next, I
performed a balayage service in a brick-lay pattern. Since the client is naturally a
level 4, processed for in foils for a higher lift. I used 20-voulme developer. She
processed for 25 minutes.
10
Makeup Application
To begin, I applied a primer and used a green concealer to correct and unwanted
redness. Next, I used a brow pencil to fill in the client’s brow. I applied a neutral
eyeshadow look. I used a makeup wipe to remove and fallout on the cheeks from
the eyeshadow. Finally, I applied foundation, blush and highlight.
11
Gel Nails
First, I sanitized the client’s hands. Next, I prepped the client’s natural nails by
clipping them to the desired length and filing. I used a fine-grit 240 buffer to
remove the shine. I applied dehydrator and primer, for the best adhesion possible.
Next, I applied one base coat, two color and one top coat. The nails cured in an
LED lamp 45 seconds in between each coat.
12
BLEACH RETOUCH
I sectioned the client’s hair into 4 sections. I applied the lightener to the client’s
hair in 1/8 subsections. I started ½ away from the scalp, and once finished I applied
it close to the base. She processed for 30 minutes. I used 20 volume developer.
13
BANGS
I used my comb to locate the apex and the front 2 corners. I held my fingers at
zero degrees and used the point cutting technique.
14
PRAVANA VIVIDS
I used 20 volume developer and lightener to lighten the client’s hair to a level 9.
Next, I shampooed the client’s hair with Pravana’s purple shampoo. Next I blow
dried the client’s hair and applied Pravana’s Vivids semi-permanent color in blue.
The processed for 20 minutes. I rinsed the client’s hair and applied a color-safe
conditioner.
15
Diagonal Forward Haircut
I sectioned the client’s hair into four sections. Starting the back two sections, I
took pyramid or upside down “V” sections and cut a blunt line. I continued up the
head in one-inch subsections. Once I got to the front to sections I took “V sections.
By taking V sections it created over direction on the sides, which created the length
on the sides in a forward motion.
