!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Introduction/Overview

You are about to embark on the ultimate collegiate umpiring experience. You

may have attended a local or even a regional umpire clinic or camp, but no
other weekend camp can offer you the in-depth curriculum, nationally
recognized staff of instructors and evaluators, live games to work, and the
professional approach to officiating that this school will provide. No other
"professional" school can give you
the insight into the level of baseball
umpiring you want to attain.

At the NCUS you will be
challenged to grow in your
umpiring, expand your rules and
mechanics knowledge and learn
from the very best officials that
college baseball has to offer. We
will utilize technology in ways that
no other camp or clinic has ever attempted. You will be given daily personal
instruction on college rules, 3-umpire mechanics, and you will work in the
cages with pitching machines to strengthen and refine you plate mechanics and
strike calls. You will be given in-depth instruction and video examples of how
to handle virtually every situation that a college umpire will be faced with
during the season.

You will be instructed, observed and evaluated by umpires and coordinators
that not only want to help you improve, but want to see you reach your
personal goals in umpiring.

October 22 – 26, 2008

!

Curriculm

Our days will be filled with classroom sessions, cage work, field drills as well as

live games. Each day will be well planned and organized to maximize our time
and resources. We will have evening sessions and will work with umpires and
personalized instruction.

Our curriculum will concentrate on NCAA baseball playing rules with
expanded coverage of the differences between NCAA and NAIA and NJCAA
rules. We will conduct in-depth multimedia presentations and discussions will
focus on the designated hitter rule, force play slide rule, collision rule and all
other pitching, batting and base running rules. We will administer rules
quizzes throughout the week. We will be teaching and using 3-umpire

mechanics based on the NCAA / CCA
umpire mechanics manual. We will
use multimedia presentations in the
classroom to teach the basic concepts
and then work on field drills to
reinforce the concepts learned in the
classrooms. Focus will be on the 3-
umpire system, its rotations and
complexities as well as the proper
starting positions for each base running
situation. We will also spend time
discussing two and four umpire
mechanics.

You will spend time working in cages
as our instructors help you with the details of plate work. We will work with
you on staff, timing, voice and signals as well as any other area that needs
individual attention.

Most importantly, you will work games. Live, full speed games played by
some of the most highly recruited high school players in the country. You will
be observed and evaluated and provided with feedback after every game.

major league hitting tunnels for our
plate work sessions. Peoria Sports
Complex is located in the Northwest part of Phoenix and is surrounded by
numerous hotels, restaurants and shopping areas.

We are working with other area
