BREAKING NEWS

AN EARTHQUAKE

An earthquake hit Zagreb on 22
March 2020 at 6:24 a.m. (Sunday).
Its magnitude was 5.5 on the
Richter scale. It will take a long
time for Zagreb to recover.

COVID-19 SHOOTING ON ST.
MARK'S SQUARE
The Covid-19 broke all regular life. The Covid-19 is a new pandmic
which started on 11 March 2020. Ever since it started all peple are
wearing masks, gloves and keeping distance.
Here are some rules on how to prevent the spreading of the virus:

when you are about to sneeze or cough, put on your mask or inner
elbow,
keep a distance of two meters from each other,
wash your hands before meals and after returning from the
outside,
if you have a high temperature, don't go to school or to some
other public place,
try not to touch anything that isn't yours.

On the 12 October 2020 there was
a shooting on St. Mark's Square. A
22-year-old man from Kutina was
shooting with a Kalashnikov on a
31-year-old police officer. Luckily,
no other innocent people were
hurt.

VACCINES WON’T
KILL YOU AND
HERE’S WHY

It’s important to explain how
vaccines work in order to
understand why they don’t kill. Our
organism fights tougher diseases
by collecting information on them
and then creating antibodies to
destroy them. Of course, that
process takes time, and that time
is enough for the disease to, let’s
put it bluntly, kill us.

That’s where vaccines come in, they give our
bodies a taste of the disease, to be more specific,
they contain a weakened version of the disease
only strong enough for our bodies to see it as a
threat, but not strong enough to do any actual
damage. So, when we get infected with the real
deal, our bodies are ready and don’t need to
spend too much time on research since they
already have all the necessary information.

Something important to note is that there in fact are people who can’t take

vaccines because they are allergic to some of their contents, but the amount of

people who are anti-vax far outweighs the amount of people who are hurt when

they take vaccines. However, if those of us who can take vaccines take them, we

will build up the immunity of the heard and the chances are that those who are

unable to take vaccines and build up their immunity won’t even get the

mentioned disease. Author: Sara Dutour Sikirić (7th grade)

GLOBAL
WARMING

What are the consequences?

Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising and forests
are dying. It has become clear that humans have
caused most of the past century's warming by
releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our
modern lives.

Historically, Earth's climate has regularly shifted
between temperatures like those we see today and
temperatures cold enough to cover much of North
America and Europe with ice. The difference between
average global temperatures today and during those
ice ages is only about 9 degrees Fahrenheit (5
degrees Celsius), and the swings have tended to
happen slowly, over hundreds of thousands of years.

How to stop global warming in 3 main steps?

1. Reduce

Reducing your need to buy new products results in a smaller amount of waste. Even if
you need to buy something, consider buying eco-friendly goods. It is the most effective. It
simply says cut back from where you are now.

4

2. Reuse

There are lots of things that you can reuse.
You can reuse something old and make it
into something new, in your style. People
actually don't think that way. This generation
thinks that you can't reuse things. That's the
problem. If we don't do something fast than
it won't be good for any of us.

3. Recycle

The average American throws away about 80
pounds of clothing a year. Fast fashion is not
only wasteful, but its environmental cost is
devastating. A handful of retailers offer
recycling-programs, while companies like
Patagonia will actually purchase, refurbish,
and resell your worn clothes.

I really hope that you've learned something from this. These 3 steps will save us and our
beloved Earth. I'm not writing this because I have to, I'm writing this because this is what
we need to talk about all the time. This is a really important subject and, unfortunatelly, a
lot of people don't talk about it.

We need to help the Earth and stop thinking that everything is okay because it's not. I
hope that you've learned something from this text.

Should Wealthy
Nations Share Their
Wealth with Poorer

Nations?

Who had known that a question with only 9 words could raise so many new questions. What
risks will there be? What consequences will there be? How will this impact the economy of
different countries? How will this affect the market? Will world peace hang in balance? Who will
use the money? What will the money be used for? So many questions, we best begin.

What will the poorer countries do with the money? There is a reason that some countries
are rich and the others poor. Is it bad management? Is it the mentality of the people? Perhaps
those poor countries would not be poor if they knew how to manage money correctly, right? A
country which has a system that is being poorly managed, most certainly cannot be trusted with
large sums of money, because it is highly likely that it will end up in the hands of the wrong
people. If the people of some country are lazy, uneducated, or primitive, it would be foolish to
give them hefty sums of money, as it will probably be spent on weapons, drugs or something that
will not benefit the country or the world in any way. It also depends on the reason the money was
sent to some country, it could be an economic recovery, like the Marshall Plan, when the US sent
12 billion dollars to countries in western Europe after World War II. It could be sent as
humanitarian help, like many neighboring countries helped us, here in Croatia, after the
earthquakes. It could be used to fund education, any industry, public healthcare, and other very
needed and useful things. In the end you cannot really know what will happen to the funds.

6

PAGE 02

Who will use the money? The mafia? The politicians? The oligarchs? Or will the money be
given to the people? What will happen if the money is given to the people? Will the people know
how to properly spend the money? Will the government or the mafia steal the money from
themselves? If the money gets in the hands of the mafia, it will most definitely be used to fund
criminal operations all around the world or country, or to purchase narcotics and weaponry. If
the money gets in the hands, well, the pockets of the politicians, then they will use it for their
personal gain, instead of the welfare of their country. If the money gets in the hands of
oligarchs, then it will be used to purchase nice villas somewhere in the Mediterranean. It is
important that the money is given to the right people, people who know when and how to
spend the money. I passionately believe that that would ensure the best outcome. An outcome
which everyone will find beneficial. This also leads to an important question. Will the people
who worked and spent a lot of time educating themselves and others be willing to share their
money with people who didn’t work, educate themselves or others? I’m certain that the answer
is no. I wouldn’t be okay with that either. This is exactly what communism was like, unfair and
inefficient.

How will this affect world peace? There’s no point in fighting if we all have the same amount
of money, right? Well, no, humans are greedy, they will always want more than they have. Also,
what if two countries decide to unite, then they will have twice as much money? We’re giving
them money, money equals power, and we don’t want them to be able to compete with us. We
can give other poorer countries money, if it doesn’t compromise state security. Unless we can
discipline and educate all humans on this earth, there is no way that we would be able to insure
world peace.

In conclusion, I believe that no, wealthy countries shouldn’t give money to poorer countries.
It could lead to major shifts in geopolitics, the balance of power, and it would compromise
world peace and the market, unless the help is humanitarian, then of course, a wealthier
country should help a poorer country. But just to be clear, this is an uneducated opinion of a
13-year-old child. My opinion will change as I grow and develop as a functioning member of
today’s society. Take everything with a grain of salt.

TIBET

Tibet is an autonomous region of China. It
is often called “the roof of the world”. It is
situated between China and India and it is
under their influence.

The people of Tibet do not have a red spot on
their forehead.

Tibet is on a high plateau – the Plateau of Tibet –
surrounded by great mountains like the
Himalayas (Mount Everest is the highest peak,
8 850 meters high).

The capital of Tibet is Lhasa. The most popular
animal is a yak.

Religion observed in Tibet is Tibetan Buddhism.
A famous spiritual leader is called Dalai Lama (he
became a leader at the age of 15, he lives in
exile, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for
Peace).

Potala Palace was the winter palace of the Dalai
Lamas from 1649 to 1959, has been a museum
since then, and has been a World Heritage Site
since 1994.

Tibet is also famous for Tibetan meditations and
music.

Tibetan culture has a great connection with their
religion (art paintings and dances performed by
monks). Their customs include the traditional
marriage consultations with the lama and an
astrologer. Prayer flags on rooftops and tents
signify fortune and good luck.

What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a game that encourages imagination. Minecraft (Cave game) was created
by Markus Persson (Notch) on May 17, 2009.

In minecraft you can build bases, houses and other creative constructions with
blocks. Blocks are made of materials such as: obsidian, stone, grass or quartz. You
can also mine and go to a dimension called Nether. Nether is scary underground full
of lava and spooky creatures.

For easy mining and for restoring junk, we get bundles. You can place 64 of every
item, and you can put two different items (32 iron and 32 diamond) together.

There are four new mobs: axolotls, warden, goats
and glow squid. Axolotls are the cutest predators.
They play dead to trick mobs and to heal. Warden is
a scary mob that lives in deep dark. Goats are
mischievous little animals that can push you off the
cliff. Glow squid is just a glowing squid.

Soon there are going to be new archeological sites where you can get brushes and
start finding treasure.

MEMES

An Internet meme, or more commonly
known simply as a meme, is a type of
meme that is spread around the
internet, often through social media
platforms and especially for humorous
purposes. Memes can spread from
person to person by social networks,
blogs, direct email, or news sources
(Instagram, TikTok, Vine).

One hallmark of Internet memes is the appropriation of a part of broader culture, for
instance by giving words, phrases and misspellings such as lolcats or using incorrect
grammar such as doge in particular. Many memes utilize popular culture especially in image
macros of other media, although this can lead to issues with copyright. The word meme was
coined by Richard Dawkins in his 1976 book The Selfish Gene. Dawkins characterized an
Internet meme as being a meme deliberately altered by human creativity. They are mostly
parodies, funny cursed pictures with funny text, mashups and remixes. One of most used
memes in the history of memes are nyan cat and doge.

DOGE - this meme is basically
a Shiba Inu picture that was
one of most popular memes in
2010.

NYAN CAT - the original
YouTube video of the nyan
cat has received over 180
million views as of August 5,
2020.

14

I hope these were funny to you,
but let me explain something
more about memes... The short-
form videos created on sites like
Vine and TikTok found use in
being posted on other social
media sites, such as Twitter, as a
form of reacting and responding
to other posts. Memes are very
famous nowadays and they get
millions of views on the internet.

An example of a TikTok meme is the cosplay by Myannyancosplay posted to the
musical track Mia Khalifa by iLoveFriday. This meme became known as Hit or
Miss and got over 2.7 million views. PewDiePie’s 2018 Rewind as one of the
most influential memes of the year alongside other influential memes of the year.
PewDiePie's 2018 rewind video has been viewed over 70 million times and has
8.9 million likes as of April 28, 2020.

Since a meme is essentially a comment, a ridiculous photo, a misspelling or an
expression of an emotion, it constitutes an expression of an idea.

Books… so difficult to decide which one to start reading. So many colours,
different sizes, many authors, lots of themes, etc. Knowing that I will not be able
to read them all in my life, how to decide?

Books can be funny, educational, sad, BORING and imaginary, but they all

J. K. Rowling

Joane Kathleen Rowling wrote
seven books about Harry
Potter. Later people made the
first movie of the first book
(Harry Potter and the
Philosopher´s Stone), which
become really famous.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter is a boy, but not a
normal boy. He is a wizard,
however, he doesn’t know that.
When he turns 11, mysterious
letters start appearing.
That’s when he finds out he is
a wizard and that he is going
to the Hogwarts School of
Witchcraft and Wizardry.

There he meets Ron Weasly and Hermione Granger, who become

his best friends. They go through everything together, from saving

the Philosopher´s stone, to the final battle between Harry and Lord

Voldemort. There are lots of obstacles like the opening of the

Chamber of secrets, Sirius Black, the mass murderer, escaping the

wizard’s prison Azkaban, Voldemort’s return, Harry´s hearing,

Umbrige rulling the school, the chase in the Department of

Mysteries, the death of Harry´s beloved godfather Sirius Black,

Harry´s possession, the Half-blood prince and finally, the final

battle between Voldemort and Harry. There are a lot of exciting

and interesting moments in the Harry Potter series and I would

strongly recommend you to enjoy them yourselves by reading the

books. Author: Barbara Škarica (5th grade)

CREATIVE WRITING IMAGINARY BIOGRAPHY

“I'll help you, I promise! There is a big world out there, but we're going to

find home, no matter how long and exhausting the search might be.”

Hazel Smith was born on the 15th April 2001 in Brisbane, Australia. That

is where she grew up as well. She had trouble making friends, so her parents

bought her a dog. She named him Rex. Rex was her best and only friend.

When she turned 18, she got her first job as a barista. She quit two weeks

later because she got a job offer from the director of an upcoming movie.

She accepted the offer. She was supposed to be a side character in a science

fiction movie about surviving in the wild, but she ended up getting the lead

role. Everyone loved her performance and she got famous.

On November 23, 2020, her parents were in a car accident. They were

driving to see Hazel perform live and they were hit by a drunk driver. Hazel's

mother and Rex unfortunately didn't make it, but her father is recovering

and will be back on his feet in a matter of weeks.

Hazel is taking a short break from acting, but will be back in January

2021. She is currently volunteering in an animal shelter somewhere in

Queensland. She has a new dog she rescued and named him Rex in memory

of her old dog Rex. Written by: Laura Mira Šunjić (8th grade)

CREATIVE WRITING

Get to Know Me

Hello everybody, today I am going to tell you something about me. I know that you guys
can't wait to hear that. So, let’s start.

I am Dea Milano and I am 14. I go to Hugo Kon Primary School and I am the president of
my class. This school is like my second family because we are really close and we have great
teachers there. I can't say which teacher is my favourite because they are all so motivated and
passionate and I just have the best words for them. I love all subjects in school, but English and
Physics are my favourite. Also, you guys must know one important thing about me - I absolutely
adore making Kahoot quizzes. For example, I made a Kahoot of 47 questions
about Australia and New Zealand about 3 months ago. That is my record of
making Kahoots. I am so glad that we have amazing teacher Sandra who
adores my long Kahoots. I wish I could say that kids from my class love my
Kahoots, but they hate my Kahoots and unfortunately me at those moments.
My hobby and profession is making hard Kahoots and I could say that I am
really good at it. You must look at my friends while they are playing my
Kahoots, they are sweating; that is how complicated my Kahoots are. Just one fun fact from my
Kahoot about Australia and New Zealand, New Zealand has 160 McDonald’s restaurants (we
didn't learn it in school, that is just my curiosity in my free time). I also play tennis and I really like
racket sports, for example: tennis, table tennis or badminton. Nobody can defeat me in those
sports. I also like volleyball and basketball.

I can't wait until this whole thing with Corona ends because one of my favourite things
in free time is hanging out with my friends. During school I don't have enough time to hang out
with them, but during the holidays I am out with my friends most of the time. We go to cool
places: Choco caffe and Nutellino bar (my favourite sweets are pancakes), to sushi bar (my
favourite meal is sushi) and to other places.

In July and August, I am in Zadar and that is absolutely the best place at the Adriatic Sea.
No, this is not an advertisement, I am just saying it. Everyone who reads this MUST go to Zadar. I
know every place in Zadar and I have close friends there because I have been in Zadar for 10
years. We have some rituals that we do in Zadar every year: go to banana and crazy UFO, go to
secret beaches that other people do not know about, play beach volleyball, eat “healthy food”, go
parasailing, have sleepovers every night, go on boat trips with our parents, eat cotton candy,
pancakes, waffles and Lino pillows, and stay up until 3-4 a.m. and have movie nights.

I really like school and learning, but I like school the most because of my friends and
teachers. I always do more than we have to do for school and that is something that makes me
feel better. In my free time I love listening to music and I can listen to music for like 4 hours and I
do not get bored. I am writing a book, but just a few people know that. I am obsessed with Harry
Potter and my favourite home is Slytherin and then Gryffindor. I am Hermione Granger in every
segment. My celebrity crush from Harry Potter is Draco Malfoy. He is my spirit animal.
Oh, sorry, I forgot to write adjectives which describe me best. I am hard-working (most of the
time, not all of the time), I am a very outgoing and extrovert person because I can make

THE QUEEN'S GEMS

One beautiful day, the Queen woke up to a bird's voice, a calming breeze of frigid wind coming out of
her window, as he put on here almost eaten up shoes (she has dogs, what did you expect?), she got
dressed up because that day was important and delightful, she could brag about having diamonds and
gems and being one of the most important people ever. She was more than happy, she was excited,
especially when she heard the news, the newest member of her family, a huge, huge emerald that is
supposed to sit on top of her crown ‘till the rest of her joyful and happy life.

As she got ready for the opening, she felt the ground shaking, the trees started to crunch, the birds
took off... That could’ve meant only one thing, one terrible, terrible thing... SHE WAS HUNGRY! As she
informed her servants, she wants the biggest breakfast ever made for any normal-sized person, her
dogs, 4895 of them, to be exact, came into the room running like there was a fire. The enormous ball of
dogs whooshed into the room uninvited and swallowed the servant. The Queen was delighted that her
dogs came to visit her on such an important day, some of the dogs were even 20 years old, The Queen
and her dogs shared breakfast and went to get ready for the biggest day of their lives, THE GEM
DELIVERY.

Everyone from all around the world came from Canada to China (that is if you count that one Chinese
kid that was lost that day and ended up at the ceremony).
The gem came in a huge army helicopter, that then deployed the tank that took two hours to land, then
they realized that they deployed the tank at the wrong location, so it took the tank one hour to get to the
Queen, she was patiently waiting for all that to end and she loved every moment of it, the longer the
better. The tanks were big enough to fit a weaponized Range Rover, that delivered The Gem (yes, I will
call it The Gem, and there is nothing you can do to stop me). There were thousands of drones were
filming this event, LIVE. As the servants opened the ten-lock safe, the found that The Gem... was missing?

What, how can this be? I wrote this whole story AND waited three hours for The Gem to arrive, so this
is what I got? Anyways, on with the story.
The Queen was broken. It was as if someone took a bow and arrow, threw away the bow and stuck the
arrow into her heart. As disappointment caught everyone's faces, a huge storm of clouds covered the
whole of England and the World, everyone was in shock, some kid started crying (that was the Chinese
kid who at this point realized he was lost). And so, the great depression started.

The Queen tried to hire military detectives, private detectives, everyone. No one accepted the call
because everyone thought that the person that stole The Gem was dangerous. It was enough, the
Queen decided to take it upon herself to find The Gem. ‘’Oh, my emerald, my sweet, sweet emerald, I will
find you and bring the man that kidnapped you to justice.

She went to the Royal Fortune Teller to tell her where she would find The Gem. The fortune-teller
told her she had to follow the path of the Seven Wise Camels, and only in the end would she find what
she had been truly looking for, what she truly yearned for.

She got started with her journey around the world, from Europe, through Asia and to America (wait,
isn’t the Earth... Never mind). The Queen, of course, being the Queen, took a helicopter and a dozen
bodyguards there. They first had to get to the helicopter hangar that was on the land of Pizza-men, Italy.
They prepared their engines and started the journey, but the bodyguards realized they were missing
something, of course, how could’ve they forgotten, they were on the land of the pizzas, the Queen went
to eat some, but accidentally bought the whole Venice (what, she doesn’t speak Italian), anyways, as the
story reaches its end, the helicopter and the assistant drones arrived in America. There they found what
they had been looking for this whole time.

No, there is no plot twist this time. It was The Gem, but one thing was still not clear, how did it end
up in this warehouse?

P.S. They fired the fortune teller. Author: Marko Vranić (7th grade)

QUEEN ELIZABETH’S GARDEN PARTY

In the springtime Queen Elizabeth traditionally organizes
birthday garden parties at Buckingham Palace. The garden at
Buckingham Palace is a large private park on the edge of the
London residence.

This year, because of COVID-19 pandemic, the Queen is
celebrating her birthday with her closest family. For the garden
party, men wear living room suits, while women wear day
dresses. This year the Queen has arranged a surprise for all the
guests. They usual walk through the beautiful palace garden by

the lake where swans and ducks swim was replaced by a virtual walk through the desert. The
virtual walk enables the drone camera with the RTMP streaming protocol for real-time
messaging. Everything is shown on a large video wall. It is well known that camels are true
artists who survive under extreme conditions. The camel is also known as the ‘desert ship’, but
not many people know that camels are in fact great dancers. Camels move by lifting the left and
right pair of legs at once. Because of this, they oscillate expressively like they were dancing.

At the end of the party, the Queen told everyone that camel milk is good for the human
immune system and for COVID-19 prevention. The Queen was joking during her speech: I am
the Queen of Britain and camels are the queens of the desert. Maybe the Queens can help
solve the COVID-19 pandemic in the world. We all have to adapt to COVID-19 like camels in the
desert.

Since the Queen likes pizza, the Italian ambassador sent her a gift - the greatest pizza in the
world. Pizzas were delivered from the most famous Neapolitan pizzeria. San Remo, the city of
flowers, sent the Queen nice floral arrangements and a hat decorated with the finest roses of
San Remo. This was a true surprise to the celebrant and her whole family.

Elizabeth Orders a Pizza

Elizabeth decided to order a pizza while riding a camel in the Sahara desert. She was
going to visit her old friend Xleopatra, she told her to meet her in Egypt. She needed the
pizza to feed herself and her camel otherwise they would both die. She ordered a
pineapple pizza from the pizzeria Dunkin Pineapples.

The workers knew it would be dangerous to go to the desert in their worker uniforms, so
they sent a drone to do the delivery.
The problem was that the drone was much slower than normal and that it would take a
significantly more time to deliver it. They warned the Queen about the problem, she said
that it was fine.

A week passed with still no scrumptious pineapple pizza in sight, when suddenly she
noticed a drone flying her way with a scent of pineapple. The drone finally made it to her,
she took the pizza, ate it and payed the drone a 100 pounds. The camel also got some
pizza, but sadly not as much as the Queen did.

They made it to Xleopatra's place and had an amazing mummy dance off party.
Elizabeth won the competition and got a coupon to Dunkin Pineapples. They all lived
happily ever after.

Christmas Eve at the Palace

It was Christmas Eve. Everyone at the Palace loved Christmas, especially children. Every
year their grandmother, Elizabeth, would tell them stories from her childhood. Everyone
gathered at a table and had a traditional dinner. Elizabeth suggested that they could play
board games. Everyone agreed. Elizabeth remembered one fun game from her childhood
and suggested they play it. The game was called ‘Find Me in the Desert’. They enjoyed
playing it and hanging out together.

Suddenly a child remembered and asked if they could eat pizza for Christmas dinner.
Everyone looked at him in amasement. Elizabeth agreed because the royal children always
eat royal food. The children were very happy. None of the adults could believe that
Elizabeth agreed. She told them that when she was little she also wanted to try pizza, but
she never got a chance. She also agreed because it is good for children to try something
different. They continued playing the game and in a few hours Elizabeth decided to read a
story to the children.

After she read the story, it was time to go to bed. Their parents escorted them to sleep.
On the way there, they saw a drone through the window. This was uncommon because it
was quite late. The parents escorted their children to bed and then they went to sleep.

HAMLET IN THE
HOOD

My neighbor is a thirty-year-old guy who does all sorts of weird jobs and attends night
school. His father was killed under some strange circumstances and he still lives with his
mother Gertrude. Ever since his uncle Claudius moved into the house, strange noises have
often been heard from it. I don’t know anyone from the neighborhood to hang out with them,
more like they’re afraid of them. The neighbor's name is Hamlet and his appearance is
somehow dark, his gaze always hidden and his gait awkward. Sometimes he is visited by a girl
Ophelia, but he often refuses to let her into the house. Apparently it has something to do with
her brother Laertes and father Polonius. One winter evening something even stranger than
usual began to happen. I was out there, walking in front of my house when I suddenly saw
Hamlet talking to a ghost, saying it was his dad in another life .... (after that I decided I would
never watch horror movies again). A couple of days later, I heard about Hamlet’s fight with
Fortinbras. They fought because Fortinbras claimed that Hamlet's father had killed his dad.
After that, Hamlet started behaving more and more strangely, so Claudius and Gertrude,
worried about Hamlet’s behavior, asked a pair of Hamlet’s former friends from Wittenberg,
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to watch him. Hamlet successfully escaped from them,
associating only with Horatio, his trusted friend.

For a while I avoided Hamlet and that house.... but soon Hamlet organized a show for the
whole neighborhood, so I watched from the window what was going on. At one point there
was commotion and shouting and Hamlet's uncle went on a terrible rage. The show was
abruptly interrupted and the audience went home.

A few days after that evening, I saw neither Hamlet nor Ophelia, nor anyone from that
house. Even Horatio disappeared. I talked to my friends and asked the neighbors (who had
already called the police), but no one knew what actually happened. Apparently after a big
quarrel, Ophelia and Hamlet broke up and Ophelia died. Hamlet was drafted into the army
and all trace of him was lost. There was no speculation for the others.

The police came and went from our neighborhood for days, and the newspapers published
an article saying the whole family was killed... and that knives, poison and who knows what
else were found in the house. They also wrote that the reason for this massacre was revenge
and jealousy, and that the detectives are confident that they’ll be able to close this case after
Horatio’s testimony.

We decided to move to a quieter neighborhood.

Modern Hamlet

In a not so far away land of Denmark existed a teenager who went by the name of Hamlet, but
presumably out of laziness or some other unspecified reason, his friends called him Ham. He lived in a
high society since his father was the president of Denmark. Of course he didn't go to just any ordinary
school, no, quite the contrary, he didn't even go to school per say, he instead was homeschooled. Him
being homeschooled didn't affect his social life. He was allowed to have friends, as any other child or
teenager for this matter. He did have friends, for instance Horatio, who was his best friend. Horatio was
always of great support to Hamlet, he was always there for him.

One day a few years back, Hamlet's father died under mysterious circumstances. Hamlet was
crushed by this, however, what enraged him even more so was the fact that his mother started seeing
Claudius, a corrupt politician, his father's political advisory and, most of all, his father's brother. To say
that Hamlet and Claudius didn't like each other would be an understatement, considering that Claudius
was a particularly interesting personality. He was witty and smart, not in a good sense however. He was
known for manipulating his opponents. In Hamlet's eyes he was, plainly said, a weasel.

As the weeks passed, Hamlet's suspicion that his father's death wasn't a mere coincidence grew
bigger and stronger. He knew that something, rather someone, was at play here. He suspected that
Claudius wanted to usurp the position of the president of Denmark. His suspicions became even
stronger when his mother informed him that she was planning to wed Claudius. This thought of HIS
mother being married to the most dishonorable person in his life was the worst conceivable scenario.
Hamlet knew that he had to do something, he couldn't let Claudius take everything that was ever
important in his life. Hamlet didn't know what to do, he felt helpless and more alone than ever before.
Even Horatio could not aid him in this predicament he had found himself in. As he became more
restless, he began contemplating his life, the life he had led, the life he was leading and the life he could
have led without Claudius; he began asking himself if life was even worth continuing anymore.

As the story continued and the plot thickened, Claudius suspected that perhaps Hamlet knew too
much. As he saw, Hamlet hadn't been himself at the time, so Claudius began to plot a final solution to all
of his problems. He began formulating a plan to kill Hamlet, whilst also retaining his image. Claudius
feared that all of Hamlet's theorizing could eventually lead him to finding out the truth about him
poisoning his father. Claudius knew that he could not kill Hamlet outright, so he commissioned a bank
heist that would occur in a way that Hamlet could be framed for it. He made it so that the robber had
guns implanted with duds that were shot at a couple of federal agents, who then "died" in the occurring
shootout. As Claudius's plan came to fruition, he was able to frame Hamlet for the killing of those two
"civilians“.

Becoming a de facto dictator of Denmark made it possible for Claudius to secure a max-security
prison for Hamlet. The poor living conditions of those prisons led Hamlet to his last years on this Earth,
where he mourned the loss of his life, the freedom of his country and his father. He knew well enough
that this kind of framing was to be continued as long as Claudius was alive. After two years in
confinement, Hamlet passed away due to the worsening condition of his mental and physical health. In
the end, he was left with one thought "How did everything end up like this?".

THE AVENGERS

The Avengers are superheroes. There are many
Avengers, but I like these six from the picture the
most: Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Black
Widow, Hawk Eye and the biggest one is The Hulk.
There are many movies that are made about the
Avengers. My favourite movie is a crossover film
where the heroes are together. Three sequels
have been released: Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015),
Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers:

David Garret, Violin Virtuoso

Who Makes Musical Bridges

David Garrett is a long-haired violin virtuoso who
makes musical bridges between Mozart and
crossover.

David Garrett was born on 4th September 1980.
He is a well-known German classical violinist. Garrett
grew up in Germany, where Mozart’s style has
delighted the lovers of classical music.

He studied at the Royal College of Music in
London and graduated from Juilliard School in New
York City. He was one of the first students of Itzhak
Perlman.

From an early age, it was clear to everyone that
Garrett was going to be something special. He began
playing the violin at the age of four and enrolled in the
Lübeck Conservatoire at age 7.

When he was 11 years old, he played his first
Stradivarius, thanks to the generosity of the German
president at the time, Richard von Weizsäcker.

While he was at the Juillard School, Garrett
composed a fugue in the style of J.S. Bach.

His German father, a lawyer, and his American
mother, a retired ballet dancer, forbade him to
listen to rock. So late at night, in his room, he
donned his headphones and listened to rock
stations. He loved Queen, but when he heard
Nirvana, his whole world opened up.

His first album, Free, was released in 2007. He
then became known as a crossover artist. His
repertoire is diverse, from Paganini's "Caprice no.
24" to Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters."

In one interview, reporters found out why David likes to play crossover - he wants to be a
part of his generation, surrounded by the culture and music that belongs to the time which he
lives in.

IMPORTANCE OF
SPORTS

‘A healthy body carries a healthy mind’ is an old saying. It is true and if one is
physically fit, it leads to his/her mental health. A healthy person has a lot of
advantages over an unhealthy and physically unfit person.

How could you become physically fit?
We can get physical health and fitness by taking part in games and sports.
Football, volleyball, running, and swimming are a few such games and sports.
They make you a well-disciplined person who obeys the leader and the rules.
Games teach you to act with the team spirit. They teach you to watch time and
act promptly.

Lastly, games and sports teach you to accept both victories and defeats
equally well with a happy face. Now we see that games and sports do us a lot of
good both physically and mentally.

Football

In my view football is wonderful team sport. It is the most
popular sport in the world. There are lots of emotions on the pitch
and the stands. Football is played with the ball. The matches are
usually very interesting and exciting. A football match lasts for 90
minutes, each half lasts for 45 minutes. For me, the most beautiful
parts of the game are skills and dribling.

My favorite football club is Internazionale Milano. I strongly
believe in their capabilities. They have amazing supportes and the
most beautiful jersey in the world. Their fans are called "Sun Boys"
and the club legend is Javier Zanetti.

Finally, I enjoy playing football very much and it is a big part of
my life. I hope that one day that I will play in the Champions

more… He also got a gold medal representing Slovenia in Turkey in 2017.

A fun story - in his interviews Luka usually says that he knows how to play
basketball because when he was in Slovenia, he had to play against bigger,
stronger players, so he had to use his brain, not just his skill.

Handball

Handball is a team-oriented sport and each team is made up of 7 players. There
are 6 players in the field and 1 goalkeeper. The positions are middle outer, right
outer, left outer, a right and left wing and a circular striker. It’s a contact-based
sport, but the stronger fouls are punished with a red or yellow card and a 2-
minute expulsion. If a player gets 3 expulsions, he is given a red card and is
forbidden to continue playing the game. During the game improper fouls are
punished with a 7-meter strike (penalty).

The dimensions of the court are 40 by 20 meters and the goals are 2 by 3
meters. In handball there are certain important lines, the 6-meter line also
known as the goalkeeper's area, the 9-meter line is a line between the defense
and the other team's attack, the 7-meter line is the penalty line and the half
court line. Each game lasts for 60 minutes with two half times that last for 30
minutes. I also play handball in the team named Pavleki. We have training
sessions every day and have league matches every weekend. Handball is very
popular in Croatia and our national handball team has won a lot of world,
European and Olympic medals.

MOUNTAIN
BIKING

For me, mountain biking is the best sport in whole world. So, what makes
this the best sport in the whole world? The first thing is that you get out
into the woods with your bike and friends. Next great thing about
mountain biking is that it brings friendship. Biking with your buddies is the
best thing ever! While riding, you get to explore, you get to share and you
get to have laughs with all your friends. While biking you’ll make memories
that will last a life time. So, if you decide to start riding MTB, you’ll have to
learn a couple of things first. First thing’s first, you should learn some MTB
vocabulary, for example: gnarly, skatchy, dropping in, to get loos, shrede…
After you learn MTB vocabulary, you should decide which type of a
mountain biker you are. There are many options to choose from. You can
be the trail rider, free rider, endure rider, DH rider or the gravel rider.
Personally, I am somewhere between a trail and enduro rider. And the last
thing to do is to sit on your bike and go for a ride.

My Cats

Hi, my name is Leon and I have got two cats. One is called Ćupko and the other is
Srećko. Ćupko is a house cat. He was expensive. He belongs to the species called
Sibirska Neva. He is cudly, he likes pampering, he is silly and cute. Srećko is a cat
which I found on the street. He is a kitten. He was in the staircase of the building for
three days because we didn't know he was sick. We would play together after school.
I saved him. I fed him, I took him to the vet. First my grandmother did not agree to
keep him, but in the end she agreed. Ćupko is brown, black, white and gold colour.
His eyes are blue. He is a meter long. Srećko is black and white. He has yellow eyes.

Ćupko and Srećko became best friends in one day. They share one bed. They have
two toilets – the first toilet is for number 1 and the second toilet is for number 2. They
play together every day. They eat together, they share the food. One day Ćupko eats
Srećko's food and the other Srećko eats Ćupko's food, and they change that every
day. They run around the house all day and night. They can see in the dark. They
sleep together because they are best friends.

Dolphins are beautiful animals. They can be from 1.7 to 9.5 meters long and can
weigh from 50 kilograms to 10 tons. They can swim at speeds 29km/h for short
distances. They can hear very well! They have a layer of fat, or blubber, under the
skin to keep them warm in the cold water. Although dolphins are widespread, most
species prefer the warmer waters of the tropic zones, but some, like the whale
dolphin, prefer colder climates. Dolphins eat fish and squid, but a few, like the killer
whale, feed on large mammals, like seals. Dolphins can't breathe automatically. That's
why when they sleep, one half of their brain is awake and the other is asleep.
Dolphins use not only eyes, but also ecolocation (similar to sonar) to avoid obstacles
and find prey. Echolocation is the ability of an animal to ‘see’ with the help of sound.

Dolphins have the ability to
recognize, remember and
solve problems, which makes
them some of the most
intelligent beings on the
planet.
