BACKGROUND DECEMBER 2022 | ISSUE 10

Merdeka Beach Resort is situated along the best beach in
Kedah which is ‘Pantai Merdeka’. A resort with local
traditional architecture and design features, Merdeka Beach
Resort has a landscaped courtyard with a pool that is
surrounded by greenery. This resort is the ideal place to escape
the hectic pace of daily life and find peace and quiet. This resort
also gives visitors a sense of nature. The sensation of sand
between your toes, strolling by tall palm trees with a warm,
salty breeze on your face, and the captivating view of the
emerald sea with a glittering light that greets you when you
open your eyes simply cannot be compared to any other place.
The reason I choose Merdeka Beach Resort as my case study is
because only those from the north are aware of this resort. The
resort's attractions are still unknown to people from other states.
Besides, I believed that this resort could be develop further as it
is located near beach with small islands.

MARKETING STRATEGY

One of the best marketing strategy that Merdeka Beach Resort use is marketing approach. It refer
to the key to achieving the organization's goals by identifying customer wants and needs in target
market and delivering to these people products that satisfy them more effectively than one's
competitors. The resort focus to meet the customer’s needs and wants because more and more
people are travelling with the intention of having a one-of-a-kind experience. They frequently seek
out an authentic adventure while travelling and hope to return with a memorable experience that
they can share on social media. With this in mind, Merdeka Beach Resort has to make sure that
their customers have comfortable room with full amenities. Besides, there is restaurant offering a
wide range of cuisine. Depending on the guests, each resort should have a variety of restaurant
menus that suit the tastes of the guests. Local cuisine must also be included in the menu. For
example, Seri Bayu Café offer a variety of food options to choose at Merdeka Beach Resort with
reasonable prices. Last but not least, this resort has swimming pool that is surrounded by greenery.
Having swimming pool is necessary as some customer prefer to stay at a resort with swimming
pool. Hence, this strategy has a number of advantages that could help Merdeka Beach Resort carve
out a distinct niche in the market.

RECOMMENDATION DECEMBER 2022 | ISSUE 10

The management of Merdeka Beach Resort should focus on
royal suit room and executive suit. Keeping the lowest room
category closed and starting sales from the higher room
categories up is one tactic that has been used very successfully
by other resort. Discounting rates cannot create demand during
the pandemic because there simply isn't any. Because safety is
the top priority, selling and converting those higher categories,
which are typically larger room types and offer more space, will
increase revenue and improve the overall guest experience.
Hence, it will also improve customer satisfaction for the resort.

Besides, the resort management should try to create branded
activities. Merdeka Beach Resort are capable of doing a lot. It
has swimming pools, indoor spaces, excellent food operations,
and a staff that can handle a wide range of situations. Therefore,
the resort should offer branded experiences, packages, and add-
ons to boost revenue while also fostering greater brand loyalty.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, Merdeka Beach Resort
will be well received by visitors if it is
properly run and promoted. If
Merdeka Beach Resort is properly
advertised and marketed, it may
become a well-liked tourist
destination, which could increase its
revenue while fostering brand loyalty.
