Objective

To know the role of Microsoft Sway software and
basic functions

To acknowledge the advantages of Sway.

To understand the basic steps to create
presentation slide on Sway by using “create

new”.

Introduction

Microsoft Sway is a latest presentation tool had been
released by Microsoft company. Sway would not require
an office 365 subscription. Sway was developed
internally in late 2014. It generally releases in August
2015. All users who had Microsoft account to combine
text and media to create a presentable website. Sway can
make in newsletter, presentation slide and
documentation. The program also provides native
integration with other services, including YouTube,
Flicks, Bing Images, Mixcloud, and Pickit.

Layout

Sway and Power point have the differences and
similarity in term of layout, template, online
collaboration and sharing. For layout Microsoft
Sway have 3 difference layout which are vertical,
horizontal and slide shows. The similarity for Sway
and Power Point in layout is Slide show.

Template

Power Point has many templates can be used and you
also could create a template due to your own creativity.
Power Point more complex than Sway where is a lot of
design, transition and animation can be changed.
However, Sway has limit template. Within Sway, there
are few design templates called Styles. The word
template is almost too strong in this case where it
controls the overall design only. They work with all of
the layout choices and are customizable.

Online
Collaboration

Online collaboration is available in Sway. This working
when you have teams and need to collaborate. Since
Sway is cloud-based, it includes collaboration. You will
just need to make sure you select Edit in order as invite
people to section when creating a link and it applicable
to be edit by others people in same time that not in same
places. If you are using PowerPoint as part of an Office
365 license, you can collaborate with multiple users at
the same time. This feature is not available for the
standalone software.

Sharing

Sharing your PowerPoint presentations is dependent on
what version you are using. If you have an Office 365
subscription, you can easily share by email or link. If
you are using a desktop version of PowerPoint that not
connected to Office 365, you will have to save your
presentation and share it via email. Unless you lock the
presentation before sending, though, whoever you
share it with will get everything. If you want to send
only the final presentation your best options are to lock
the presentation so it cannot be edited, save as a PDF
and send, or upload to a site like SlideShare. With
Sway, you have a few options for who you can share
with specific people, your co-workers or anyone and
what access they will get either view only or edit. You
also can control whether or not they have access to
share it with others. No matter which options you pick,
though, you will need to send the recipients the link to
your Sway.

Advantages

Easily add content from anywhere

Add in photo, video and other multimedia in Sway
from anywhere sources is very helpful. It directly
uploaded to Sway without downloading. It saved
your time and devices memory. Sway is integrated
with your device and the web such as flickr,
Youtube, Sound cloud and etc.

Limitation of template in Sway will save
your time due to think how to create
innovative presentation. With Sway, you
do not have to hardly design a template,
how the animation goes and the transition
of the layout. You just save the time with
effortless design in used Sway by thinking
the style to use sway.

Automatic saver

Sway is an application where it autosave. It
will save all the creation on it. Either you
forget to save or your multimedia devices
had problems such as freezes. With autosave
system, it removes risk and stops duplication
of work that you have to re-do when you lose
unsaved data.

Layout

In Sway you can pick from three different layouts to display your
content. Layout can be change at any time and leave it to Sway to make
that layout look good. The three layouts are Vertical, Horizontal and
Slideshow. You may use scrolling down for vertical layout, right to left
or left to right for horizontal layout and slide where you move through
frame by frame.

Card

Card is a container that contains text, images and videos. Cards being
used for had contents. In power point, it can call as layout design. Cards
can be in group card if you want make it specific classification.

but Sway, you can have two type of text style which are heading and

Uploading a file from our devices by using media platform. Sharing

can record your voice if you want give an explanation.

Group

Group make contents more specific and arranged. You can classify
your materials by using group cards. Types of group cards are
automatic, grid, comparison, stack and slide show. Automatic can help
arranged your card automatically with an organized position design. In
Grid, your cards will be three picture or text in a row. Comparing image
or text in comparison card. Stack card can be used as queue card.
Slideshow be like normal presentation slide design.

Slide Show

You can use slide show cards like usually presentation tools. There
have three type for slide shows cards which are slide show, thumbnails
and continuous. The view of slide show will not show text contains.

Customize Styles

For a few additional design options, you need is to add an image with
that color to your Sway, pick that image in the color inspiration, and
Sway will generate color palette options for you to pick from. In
addition, here are three additional powerful functions that Sway
offers: The ability to pick from other font pairs that better fit your
preference or need, the ability to reduce or amplify the animation level
Sway offers, and the ability to change the text size.

Remix Styles

At the top of the window, you will see a button named Remix. Tapping
this button will magically change your Sway's style and layout,
allowing you to quickly explore many alternatives. Once you find
something you like, you can go on and focus on creating your content
without spending more time on design decisions.

Changing style of Template

Storyline

The Storyline is what makes Sway unique. Unlike other Office
applications, Sway uses cards in which you create or import a variety
of content. A card is a sort of container that holds content within a
Sway presentation, similar to a placeholder in PowerPoint. The
arrangement of the cards determines the appearance of your Sway
presentation. You can easily rearrange the cards whenever you want
to modify the way your Sway looks.

Share Button

Using share button to share your work to Specific people or group,
those in organization with the link and anyone with a link. Besides,
you also can invite those people to view for permanent presentation
slide. You also may invite other people to edit Sway. It suitable for
group working task and helping to show cooperation. You can create
a password for view and edit for more safety.
