Chemical engineering
All my life the only subject I have enjoyed would be math and some science classes.
Once I started to move up grades choosing a career became a bigger deal, and I started looking at
jobs and what is needed and a based my search on what I enjoyed doing and school and out of
school. Chemical engineer and civil engineering where the two careers that caught my attention
the most. I believe that when met my friend’s dad which is a chemical engineer and the things
that he told me about the job had an effect on the career I chose which is chemical engineer. I felt
that this career would be something that I would enjoy and succeed in. According to the DWYA
I would be good at Developing and following a well laid-out plan and while researching about
chemical engineers that skill would be very helpful at succeeding in the job.
To become a chemical engineer a bachelor’s in chemical engineering is needed. There is
no other certification needed but depending on the job applying for there might be some extra
training and certification needed. Some of the skills that would be necessary would be being
strong in mathematics, calculus trig, algebra, etc. and strong understanding of science topics,
physics chemistry. The same way as certification most of chemical engineering jobs licenses are
not needed but it is a bonus to have extra licenses for certain jobs.
Chemical engineers work mostly in offices and laboratories planning and seeing how
some operations will be going. But sometimes they need to go out to where there is a project
going on and make sure that everything is going okay with the job and there is no problems with

the projects. As most careers there is ways to move up the field of job, for most engineering
careers one of the advances of careers would be becoming a project manager in which a license
and many years of experience of the certain field is needed to become one.
Becoming a chemical engineer starts at Lone Star by getting an education. By working on
my associates in science is a great start on becoming a chemical engineer. By working on an
associates in science I am able to get some classes that would transfer into a four year university
and save money. There is two ways that working on my associates in science would benefit me,
one way would be getting the degree and then transferring into a four year college while been
able to get a better job. The other way it could help me is having a plan of the classes I need to
get done if I wanted to transfer in the middle of working on that degree and most of the classes I
am going to be able to transfer into a university that will go into the chemical engineering
program classes. Some of the biggest companies in the chemical engineering and engineering
industry are ExxonMobil and Shell. This companies being two of the biggest money makers in
the industry.
