DR. RICK HOLM to serve as Honorary Chair for American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Brookings/SDSU
Local cancer survivor Dr. Rick Holm has been selected as honorary chair for this year’s Relay For Life of Brookings/SDSU. Dr. Rick Holm will join the more than 150 other participants on March 29, 2019 to help the American Cancer Society attack cancer from every angle. The event will take place at the Volstoff Ballroom on the SDSU campus and starts at 5 pm.
Dr. Rick Holm is a pancreatic cancer survivor who chose to focus on living. He, with everyone who is involved with Relay For Life Brookings/SDSU, are hopeful for a cure and partici- pate for that reason. Dr. Holm may be familiar to you through his medical questions program, On Call with the Prairie Doc.

That the Psalmist wrote, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3), and later King Solomon, wrote “Righteous- ness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34), prompts us to ponder where does the USA stand in God’s view? Presi- dent Trump’s motto, “Make America Great Again” is primarily about restoring material prosperity. The pundits point to the lower unemploy- ment, stock market and other measures of prosperity, i.e., a better and more secure life. But is that what God was referring to in His word?
Some, if not many folks assert a deist position of our existence, like so many at the time of the founding of the USA in the late 1700s. In short deism is, God created the universe, then went on vacation to leave man to

The worldwide flood was the judgment to cleanse the world of evil – “...the Lord saw that the wickedness of man... and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continu- ally... the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth... for I am sorry that I have made them” (Genesis 6:5-7).
Fortunately we have the civil and criminal law code of the Old Covenant
given to establish a righteous society. God’s promise was, “...if you dili-
gently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His
commandments... the Lord your God will set you high above all nations
of the earth” (Deuteronomy 28:1). International greatness would result
