WELCOME TO THE 51st ANNUAL BROOKINGS SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL!
ENTERTAINMENT
Good Morning Bedlam. Good Morning Bedlam has become a staying force in the folk genre with a 200 plus show tour in 2019 before the COVID-19 shutdown, claiming the first-place title at the John Hartford Memorial Festival Band Competition, and being finalists at the NWSS Band Competition. Their shows are known for their wild energy and stunning harmonies. GMB has played at festivals alongside artists such as Shakey Graves, Sam Bush, Jason Isabell, The Infamous Stringdusters, Trampled By Turtles and others. In 2021 GMB ran a successful Kickstarter in July of 2021 for their much anticipated third full-length record ‘Lulu’. Lily B Moonflower is a songwriter with a velvet voice and a performer that finds joy in sharing her lifelong craft, carrying on traditions of roots music, and connecting with the souls of the world thru song. She refers to her style of music as, Folk 'n Roll With A Twang. Lily's handscripted lyrics are uniquely crafted and are delivered with grace and grit. She is able to connect with her audience on a profound level and leaves a lasting impression on the folks she meets. Her original songs are like colorful sonic tapestries that uplift any spirit. Contae Loch - Established in 2017 as a traditional Irish music band, Contae Loch has since evolved into an Irish-Americana band due to its members’ musical roots in Celtic, mountain, bluegrass, blues, country, sacred, classical and popular traditions, as well as original music. While still emphasizing the Irish, the band members select music that is meaningful to them and fun to play, and which they hope audiences will find appealing. LIVING HISTORY AREA
The festival started in 1972 with a pioneer theme because of its location, and this area has become a mainstay of the BSAF. In 1976, as part of the National Bicentennial Celebration,
a special area was set aside for historic traders and a muzzleloader target shoot. In 1984, the target shooting stopped and frontier crafts became the main attraction of the Living History Area.
The Brookings Renegade Muzzleloaders Club will be manning the main gate and guiding the parking for the valid handicapped vehicles. The Silver Creek Mavericks will greet exhibitors at the West gate to direct them to their parking areas and assist with large parcel pick-up. The 13th U.S. Infantry/Fort Dakota will hold a brief flag raising ceremony in front of the Bandshell both Saturday and Sunday at 10am.

2022 BSAF ENTERTAINMENT
Curtis & Loretta. Curtis & Loretta’s music comes straight from the heart. The husband and wife duo’s extraordinary harmonies and proficiency on a parade of stringed instruments create an alluring frame for their poignant original songs, and carefully chosen traditional pieces from the British Isles, America, and beyond. The current menagerie includes Celtic harp, mandocello, mandolin, guitars, clawhammer banjo, and National steel ukulele. Paul Imholte. If it has strings, Paul Imholte probably plays it. Paul performs traditional and original music on nearly a dozen string instruments. Raised in central Minnesota, his music portrays both historical American themes and contemporary Midwestern life. Paul’s featured instrument is the hammered dulcimer. In shows for children and families, Paul combines both traditional American folk songs with original songs. He encourages the audience to join in by singing along and by doing somewhat silly movements to songs. As a stroller, Paul fills a cart full of instruments and performs across the festival grounds. Brookings Area Community Band. The BACB has, since 1984, been playing Sunday evening concerts during the summer months at Pioneer Park at 7:30 pm. The 100 member band, directed by Dr. David Reynolds, presents themed concerts. Each concert provides a variety of music and family fun including complimentary treats and featuring a children's march.
Brookings Public Library. Come by for story time with Katherine Eberline from the Brookings Public Library. She will have fun and interactive stories for the audience. brookingslibrary.org

BROOKINGS SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL 2022 COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Coming from all different walks of life, the committee members of the Brookings Summer Arts Festival all have one thing in common: the desire to create the finest arts festival in the state of South Dakota. Each year, the thirty to forty volunteers come together once a month to plan and design a weekend of art, food and entertainment for the thousands of people who attend the annual event each year. It takes a diverse group of volunteers to put the festival together, and we could use your help.
