For over 100 years Secular Humanism has been slowly infused into the peo- ple, being converted to this defacto national religion. How did this happen? Education became the primary tool as the “five-day program of humanistic teaching." (Humanism: A New Religion, Charles F. Potter, 1930). "Educa- tion is thus a most powerful ally of Humanism, and every American public school is a school of Humanism"(Religious Freedom and the Challenge of Modern Pluralism, James Davidson, 1999). How did we allow this to happen? Like ancient Israel, we turned our backs on God and thereby becoming a sin- ful and depraved nation (Isaiah 1:4).
In the later 1700s, “Higher Criticism” eroded confidence in the Bible as
God’s infallible. This belief infiltrated religious schools throughout the 20th
century. Evidence: In the 1970s, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod di-
vided, reflecting the liberal theology wrought by doubt about the Bible being
what’s
o God’s word, about miracles, the virgin birth and whether adultery was sin.
This caused some 250 congregations to leave and within 10 years became
o your
t. the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America which now accepts homosexu-
ality as OK with God.
The 1970s witnessed the blooming of Secular Humanism. The Stonewall
Inn riots (1969) spawned the1970 gay pride parades in NY and San Fran- cisco, bringing homosexuality out of the closet. Now 50 years later homo- sexual marriage is legal.
In 1972 the SCOTUS via Roe v Wade legitimized the murder of the unborn child. First degree murder is often done with malice and anger. Abortion is worse. The unborn child is totally defenseless and harmless. It is simply treated as unwanted. Why worse? Because abortion is motivated by pure self- ishness, can’t let a baby interfere with my life, plans and goals. ME! ME! ME!
Abortion would not even be considered, except when (1) the nearly un- fathomable preciousness of human life has been denigrated to nothing more than fetal garbage; (2) God is not honored as the sovereign creator.
When Jesus gave His sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), He admonished the people that their righteousness in order to go to heaven must be greater than that of the Pharisees (Mat 5:20). He cited two examples of the worst sins which strike at the stability of society, let alone personal relationships. Jesus condemned even the very thought of murder and adultery (Mat 5:21-22, 27- 28). The path of Secular Humanism– I am my own god and can do whatever suits my pleasure.
