All Brookings County Property Owners
The second half of property taxes is due by October 31st, 2020. With the tax deadline being on Saturday this year, if paying in person, Friday is the last day to come into the office. If mailing your taxes, they have to be postmarked with an October date to avoid penalty. Taxes can be paid at the Brookings County Finance office on first floor of the City, County Building on Third Street. To avoid waiting in line a drop box is located outside the Finance Office. We also have a payment drop box located outside the West door of the government building for after hours drop off. Payments may also be sent by mail to the Finance Office at 520 3rd Street, Suite 100, Brookings, SD 57006. No receipts are being mailed unless they are requested. To ensure proper payment, please include a parcel number or your tax statement for each property you will be paying. There is also an option to pay online using a credit card but there will be a convenience fee charged to you for using that option. You can do that by visiting Brookings County’s website: www.brookingscountysd.gov on the right side of the home page there is a link called “Pay Taxes Online” follow the instructions given. It will give you the amount of the convenience fee at that time.
STAY TUNED!

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2020 • SALE TIME: 10:00 AM
This is a property that has a variety of amenities, including approx. 40 acres of hayland and/or
acres with an FSA cropland history, with the remainder in grassland, trees and other areas
adjacent and along the Big Sioux River which provides some excellent wildlife production and
hunting habitat, enhanced by numerous mature trees, other natural and developed charac-
teristics and habitat along and adjacent to the Big Sioux River. This property has areas that
are rather scenic and ideal for the hunter or naturalist, along with some grassed areas in both
the Northerly and Southerly sectors of the land as this land runs from SD Hwy. #34 on the
North and South to East 2nd St./233A St. a distance of approx. 3,336 ft. with approx. 4,838 ft. along and adjacent to the Big Sioux River. This property may have been of the best kept hunt- ing secrets in the area, as this property has been home to numerous whitetail deer, wild turkeys and other wild game. If you are in the market for your own hunting and/or wildlife sanc- tuary which is heavily wooded and home to numerous deer, wild turkeys and other small game, while also providing fishing opportunities from the Big Sioux River which borders the East boundary of this property, then this property is a dream come true. Individuals with game cam- eras will marvel at the numbers of wildlife which migrate and reside on this land. This property could have some year around hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobile, ATV, camping and other utilizations, especially with some trail development. The Southern portion of this land is bor- dered on the West by the City of Egan and on the South by E. 2nd St./233A St. and provides approx. 31 acres with an FSA cropland history and additional acres of grassland and pasture- able areas with grassland and trees that would provide acres for use as hayland and/or grass- land that could mesh well for use in conjunction with a cattle grazing or haying program, as well as some natural habitat for deer and other wildlife. According to Moody County Planning and Zoning, this property may potentially have 1 housing allocation, subject to compliance with flood zone requirements, as areas of this property lie within Zones X and A of the flood zone. This property has been surveyed to the center of the Big Sioux River and platted for determination of acreage and development of an accurate recordable legal description and survey stakes have been installed for accuracy of boundaries at the expense of the sellers. Fall 2020 hunting privileges will be awarded to the successful buyer immediately following the auction. If you are in the market for a small unique “One of a Kind” private hunting and recre- ational sanctuary situated within minutes of Sioux Falls, SD, Egan, Flandreau and other area communities, then make plans to inspect this property and be in attendance at this auction!
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: A surveyed parcel to be known as – Tract 1 of Steinhauer’s Addition in the NW 1⁄4 and the SE 1⁄4 and in the NE 1⁄4 of the SW 1⁄4, all in Sec. 7, T. 106N., R. 48W., (Grovena Twp.), Moody County, SD.
TERMS: Cash - A 15% non-refundable earnest money payment on the day of the sale with the balance due and payable on or before December 22, 2020 with full possession. Buyer to receive immediate Fall hunting privileges for 2020 immediately following the auction. Mar- ketable Title will be conveyed and owners title insurance provided with the cost of the Owner’s Policy and Title Company Closing Fees to be divided 50-50 between the buyer and seller. All of the 2019 RE taxes payable in 2020 as well as all of the 2020 RE taxes payable in 2021 will be paid by the seller. The acres are based on surveyed acres as determined by Midwest Land Surveying, Inc., with the survey costs paid by the sellers and the acres understood to be “more or less.” The seller does not warranty or guarantee that the existing fences lie on the true and correct boundary and any new fencing, if any, with be the responsibility of the purchaser pursuant to SD Law. Information contained herein is deemed to be correct but is not guaranteed. This property is sold subject to existing easements, restrictions, reservations or highways of record, if any, as well as any or all applicable zoning ordinances. This property is sold in “AS IS” condition and the merchantability or suitability of this property for any par- ticular purpose is not guaranteed. Last week, we closed asking the questions, “If the foundations are de- stroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). And who or what is God? The first step is to return to God and His way. That begins with each of us – You!
Most folks acknowledge a supremely higher power commonly called god or gods. As much as the critics tried to destroy the Bible through the ages, it is still here, being the most popularly sold book – 20 million in the USA in 2019. Also, You Version’s Bible App alone had been downloaded over 300 million times by the end of 2017. But do people read, yea study, it in its context?
The attempts to destroy the Bible are perennial. The influence of Ger- man Higher Criticism of the Bible began significantly in the late 1700s and had infiltrated the religious schools in the USA by the early 20th century. Its intent was to destroy the credibility of the Bible, essentially calling into question the Bible’s claim to be direct revelation from God to mankind, And the existence of God Himself.Along side was Karl Marx’s godless communism and G. Friedrich Hegel’s ever evolving di- alectical materialism (no absolute). In turn, all of these fostered the rise of Modernism and liberal theology, essentially denying the absoluteness of the Bible, and spawning Secular Humanism which convinced man is his own god. That blossomed into Postmodernism – there is no truth – in which we are now drowning. Yet, the supplanting of biblical faith, morality, and ethics making you your own god, why is the Bible still the #1 seller? Why?
In the spirit of every person there is this sense of God’s existence. God will not be ignored, so He put that in the spirit of each of us. Even after 70 years of Soviet, atheistic communism, the exclamatory expression still commonly heard was “Bozhe moi” – “My God!” Why not, “My dog?” “My God” still acknowledges God as the supreme power, even if irreverently spoken. God will not be eradicated.Foolish mankind!
The new militant atheism’s “There is no God, and I hate him!", the subtext of books by Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, implicitly reveals this deep implant into man’s spirit. If God doesn’t exist why spend, yea waste, time fretting about it? Denigrating Him? Ridiculing those who revere Him? No one can escape the pres- ence of God He has planted deeply into each of us.
