Call us today to schedule an appointment or to learn more about how we can help you feel your best. The Hidden Mechanics of a Shoveling Injury: 1. The Weighted Twist: The most dangerous movement is the classic lift-and-twist. Lifting heavy, wet snow places enormous compressive force on your lumbar discs. When you add a twisting motion to toss the snow, you place asymmetric, shearing forces on the spine. This combination is the primary mechanism for a herniated disc. 2. Disc Herniation Explained: Your spinal discs are like jelly donuts between vertebrae. The forceful compression and twist can cause the disc’s tough outer layer (annulus fibrosus) to tear, allowing the soft inner gel (nucleus pulposus) to bulge or herniate. This can press on nearby spinal nerves, causing sharp pain, sciatica (pain down the leg), numbness, or weakness. 3. Muscle & Joint Overload: Shoveling engages core and back muscles that may be underused and cold. This leads to muscle strains, ligament sprains, and joint dysfunction. Your spine’s facet joints can become jammed or irritated, causing acute pain and stiffness.OUR FULL RANGE OF SERVICESChiropractic Adjustments Acupuncture Red Light Therapy Near Infrared Sauna X-rays Diagnostic Ultrasound DOT & Sports Physicals Custom Orthotics Electrical Muscle Stimulation Ultrasound Therapy Manual TherapyFor Acute Shoveling Injuries, We Provide: • Precise Spinal Adjustments: Gentle, targeted adjustments restore proper motion to jammed spinal joints, reducing inflammation, relieving nerve pressure, and decreasing muscle spasms. • Decompression Strategies: We use techniques to help take pressure off irritated discs and nerves, promoting the disc’s natural healing process. • Soft Tissue Therapy: We work to relax and rehabilitate strained muscles and ligaments to support the healing spine. • Pain Management Guidance: We offer advice on ice/heat therapy, proper movement, and ergonomics to manage pain at home. For Long-Term Spinal Health & Prevention: • Correcting Dysfunction: We identify and correct underlying spinal misalignments (subluxations) that make you vulnerable to injury in the first place. • Improving Biomechanics: We provide guidance on proper lifting techniques, posture, and core-strengthening exercises to make your spine more resilient. • A Proactive Partner in Health: Regular chiropractic care isn’t just for pain. It’s about maintaining optimal spinal alignment and joint function, ensuring your nervous system—which controls every cell in your body— can communicate without interference. Why Your Back Screams & How to Find ReliefAs the snow falls, so do many into our clinics with a common, painful story: “I was just shoveling, and now I can’t stand up straight.” Shoveling snow is a perfect storm for low back injuries. Understanding the “why” is the first step to prevention and healing.WHY CHIROPRACTIC CARE IS YOUR PATH TO RECOVERY & RESILIENCE:As a chiropractor, we address the root cause of your pain, not just the symptoms. Our approach is drug-free and noninvasive, focusing on restoring proper function to your spine and nervous system. However, the survey failed to ask about the meaning of “Christian.” After Pres. Reagan declared that the USA is a Christian nation, a young man’s response to a journalist asking about the meaning of Christian was “to be a patriot” (reflects biblical ignorance). In this series, our purpose is to show that Christian Nationalism is not New Testament Christianity. Skepticism about biblical religion aptly describes the beginning of 19th century USA. This was notably recorded at Yale University when only a few students admitted to having faith in Yahweh (God of the Bible). And a senior student asked, “Are the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments the Word of God?”His question was asked in the backdrop/ influence of over a century of the Renaissance, Theological Liberalism, English Deism (God exists but is uninvolved with mankind) and French philosophy of the enlightenment which frequently morphed into atheism. The impact was upon religious and educational institutions thereby affecting the national culture. So this student’s question was reasonably expected. Thus, it became the launching pad of what would be known as the Christian Evidence Movement for nearly 150 years. Indeed, whether the Bible is a mere innovation of humans or from the supreme sovereign of the universe, is paramount, i.e., is the Bible the only source that reveals our origin, our purpose in life and our destiny after death? Is there an afterlife? Or is death the end? Ultimately, is there an eternal existence waiting for each of us? And if so, what and where is that existence? Yale appears to be the yeast of a return to a reverence of God and the Bible. In 1788, Yale’s president Dwight published his “Triumph of Infidelity” as a response to Voltaire (deist and critic of organized religion). In 1797, he published, “The Nature and Danger of Infidel Philosophy” addressing deism and French philosophical unbelief. In 1796, Yale’s senior class had 8-10 believers in Jesus, the lower classes had only one or none. Thus, in contrast to the majority of founders who were Bible believers in God and Jesus. Thus the 19th century began with the Constitution’s 1st amendment, over a century of skepticism and the questions about God, Jesus and the Bible. What would Yale’s Dwight do?
