The first half of property taxes is due by Thursday, April 30, 2020. The City & County Government Center remains closed to the public because of COVID-19, but we are still at the office working to process your pay- ments.
There are several ways to make your tax payment.
(1) You can mail payments to: S Brookings County Finance Office

Please include the parcel number or tax stub so we can apply your Ove
payment to the correct property. Payments must be postmarked by April 30, 2020 to avoid a penalty.

The drop box is checked on a regular basis. They must be dropped off by April 30, 2020. Again, please include the parcel number or tax stub so we can apply your payment to the correct property.

In our exposition of Secular Humanism and its impact, the 1960s and 1970s were tremendous forces forwarding its goals. Man is his own god and thus makes and changes his lifestyle as he wishes at any moment. In short little by little God was thrown out and denigrated. Even those who believe God and Jesus do not believe the Bible is God’s word for us. Daunting – Of those who claim to be Christians only 30% believe the Bible is actually God’s inspired word. No wonder God’s instruction is ig- nored. So we flounder in our brainwashed Secular Humanism. Yes the 60s brought radical changes in our homes and culture.
Occasionally when registering, such as a doctor’s office, one question is “Does your wife work?” My response is you can’t believe how much she works. Next question is “Where does she work?” She is our homemaker. (Blank stare is the response). One of the devastating effects in the 1960s & 70s was the “You are only a housewife?” syndrome. At least because of biblical ignorance if not outright rebellion against God such “only” housewife became part of the national thought, yea the culture. Yet via the apostle Paul,God commanded Christians regarding His order of the home that the older women should “admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good,obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed” (Titus 2:4-5). Have we become a nation of blasphemers, be- moaning she is ONLY a homemaker?
God’s purpose of the home is to rear the next generation and he gave the instruction as to how that must be carried out. Dare we think we know better than God? So what happened that such a notion that the most im- portant God-given role of woman became ONLY a house wife or home- maker?
The late 1960s spawned what became known as the Women’s Liberation Movement. Its goal was to make men equal to men or as one recent writer stated the goal was “to free women from oppression and male supremacy.” Undoubtedly there have been men who are irresponsible and tyrannical. That of course implies a woman should marry only a faithful Christian man. My observation over the decades is, men should seek faithful Chris- tian women too. That both are FAITHFUL Christians is following God’s order for the home as He would have it. Failing that, we degenerate as family and nation. More on Women’s Lib and its influence next!
