A ROGERS LEGEND
Born:May 1,1934
Died: July 31,2015
Hundreds of athletes storm through the field
house everyday not very many people
know why it is named after Donald Godwin.
Also not very many people know why he is
so important .
SO HIS LEGACY BEGINS....
HIS EDUCATION
He graduated from Georgetown High School and received his master’s
degree in education from Texas A&M.
Coaching Stats
From 1963-93, Godwin’s Eagle teams compiled 243
victories and sent 18 teams into the postseason. His
overall record of 260-177-7 — he had short stints at Wallis
and El Maton Tidehaven prior to his arrival in Rogers —
ranks among the top 20 all-time among Texas high school
coaches. Until his 1965 team won district and reached the
playoffs, before that the Eagles had gone 18 years without
a postseason appearance. He would of had more teams
go to the playoffs but the 1st place team were the only
ones to go to the playoffs, unlike now the top four teams
go to the playoffs.
