Nibiru - Corebook RPG
Nibiru is a science fiction tabletop roleplaying game, set in a massive space station in a neighboring solar system. Players take on the role of Vagabonds; people who woke up in the space station with no memories of their past.
Nibiru tackles themes of memory, nature and artificiality through simple mechanics, evocative art and immersive worldbuilding.
The game’s rules foster creative writing and see players producing bite-sized chunks of character background to advance the story.
The station’s unpredictable environment might hide it’s true purpose and function, yet it also reveals a lot about its inhabitants.
Whether you traverse a lightless expanse, broken down reservoirs, or locales where artificial gravity crushes your will, Nibiru’s environments beget wildly different cultures and beliefs, allowing players to explore different visions of humanity and its regard for the world that surrounds it.
It is through these ideas that Nibiru engages with the themes of
Nature & Artificiality
Every roll of the dice is a chance for new memories to surface. Players can use Memory Points to not just guarantee success, but to unveil a new snippet of their character’s past, all while molding their advantages and disadvantages.
Nibiru wants you to keep exploring your character’s background, rewarding your efforts with Revelations. These strange traits serve to expand gameplay by, for example, granting advantages if you write in rhyme, chaining up memories into longer storylines, and even allowing you to store memories into objects or concocting a venom made out of your darkest recollections.
It is through these systems that Nibiru delves into the themes of
Memory & Identity.
