Once upon a time, the animals in the jungle had a meeting to choose a new
leader. The monkey, who wanted to be the leader, asked if he could dance. The animals
agreed and the monkey danced and did tricks which entertained them. The animals
then decided to make the monkey the new king of the jungle.
The fox did not vote for the monkey. He was very angry that the other animals
picked the monkey based on his performance. The fox decided to show them that the
monkey was not a good choice to be king.
One day, the fox set a trap with some meat in it. Then, he ran to the monkey and
said, “I’ve found treasure in the jungle. I come to tell you about it because, as the king
of the jungle, you should be the f rst to look at it.”
The monkey followed the fox to the trap. When he saw the meat, he greedily
grabbed it. In doing so, he got caught. The fox told the monkey, “You want to be our
king but you can’t even take care of yourself.”
When the other animals heard what had happened to the monkey, they held
another meeting to choose a worthy leader.

A Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow. 2.2.1 (a) 2.2.2 (a)
英文作业6A, 版权所有·侵权必究
Pupils who are successful have good study habits. The following are some of their
habits which you can follow.
First, these pupils plan a specif c time for studying every day. During this time,
they may complete their homework, revise their lessons or study for a test. They also
study at the same time each day so it becomes a routine. When study time becomes
a regular part of the pupils’ life, they will be mentally prepared for it every day.
Another good habit is setting goals for study time. Goals help successful pupils
stay focused and help them monitor their progress. They are very clear about what
they want to achieve during their study time. They also do not try to do too much all
at once. This way they are focused on their goals so they can reach them.
One other habit is studying as planned. Successful pupils do not put off studying
even if the topic they are studying or assignment they need to do is diff cult. When you
delay doing your assignment, you will have to rush to f nish it later. You may make
mistakes. Successful pupils also work on the most diff cult assignment or project f rst
because it requires the most effort. They are mentally alert at the start of their study
time so they can give their best to achieve the best.

Tick ( √ ) the correct answer.

1. The proverb ‘haste makes waste’ can be used to describe which of the following
habits?

Studying should be done at a specif c time every day.

Setting goals will help monitor progress and keep you focused.

Rushing to f nish your assignment will cause you to make mistakes.
