A Be: aff rmative and negative

1. ‘is’, ‘am’ and ‘are’ are the simple present tense of ‘be’.

B Subject pronouns and possessive adjectives

1. Subject pronouns are I, you, we, they, he, she and it. They each are used to replace a noun
which is the subject of a sentence.
2. Possessive adjectives are my, your, our, their, his, her and its. They each are used to show
ownership.
3. This is how we use subject pronouns and possessive adjectives:

C Possessive ’s

1. The possessive ’s shows ownership.
2. This is how we form the possessive ’s:

Add ’ to the end of a plural noun that ends in ‘s’ the twins’ room, the students’ books

1. ‘on’, ‘in’, ‘under’, ‘near’, ‘opposite’, ‘next to’ and ‘between’ are prepositions of place.
2. These words tell us the exact location where something or someone is.

E Be: questions

This is how we use the verb ‘be’ to form Yes/No questions. The verb ‘be’ is at the beginning of a
question:
