Plural nouns are formed in the following ways:
复数名词的构成方式如下:
(i) By adding ‘s’.
加上后缀“s”。

toe – toes leg – legs
fi nger – fi ngers glove – gloves
cake – cakes plate – plates

(ii) For nouns ending in ‘s’, ‘sh’, ‘ch’ and ‘x’, add ‘es’.
以“s”“sh”“ch”和“x”结尾的名词,加上后缀“es”。

cross – crosses fox – foxes
brush – brushes dress – dresses
patch – patches eyelash – eyelashes


(iii) By replacing ‘y’ with ‘ies’.

(vi) The plural of some nouns are formed irregularly.

The present perfect tense is used:
现在完成时式用于:
(i) for an action that has happened, but the time that it happened is
not known. Thus, it is often used with the adverb ‘already’.
指已经发生但时间不详的动作,因此常与副词“already(已经)”
连用。

The cat has caught a mouse.
The girls have forgotten to bring along their dictionaries.
We have already done the jigsaw puzzle.



(ii) to show that an action started in the past and continued into the
present. It is often used with adverbs like ‘since’ (to show when
the action started) and ‘for’ (to show the length of time).
表示由过去开始一直持续到现在的动作,常与副词“since”
(从…以来,表示动作何时开始)及“for”(表示一段时间)
连用。


Mr Tan has lived in this housing area since 1985.
He has watched TV since 9 o’clock this morning.
My uncles have worked as doctors for eight years.

(iii) to show that an action has just been completed. Therefore, it is
often used with the adverb ‘just’.
表示刚完成的动作,常与副词“just(刚刚)”连用。

The interrogative form of the present perfect tense:

e.g. Has + he + written?
Have + they + decided yet?

✿ It is often used with the adverb ‘yet ’.

The negative form of the present perfect tense:
