A preposition is used before a noun or pronoun to show how it is related to
another word in the sentence.

A preposition of location is used to show where someone or something is.

9 Subject-Verb Agreement










The subject must agree with the verb in a sentence.

A singular verb is used with a singular subject.
Examples:
 She is my sister.  Anna likes Science and Geography.
 Mr. Wong has a new car.  The machine starts by itself.

Examples:

Singular Subject Singular Verb (Present Tense)

Note: The f rst person singular pronoun ‘I’ is an exception as it is used with the
plural form of a verb.
Examples:
 I read at least a book a week.


A plural verb is used with a plural subject.
Examples:
 We are watching television.  The boys have a lot of friends.
 They play football at the weekend.  Hebe and I live in the same town.

When two or more singular subjects are joined by ‘and’, a plural verb is used.
