World Environment Day was celebrated at plants
and offices of SIL

Environment is one of the strong trinity of the Safety,
Health and Environment (SHE) Policy followed
regimentally across INEOS Styrolution, worldwide.
INEOS Styrolution India Limited (SIL) celebrated World
Environment Day on June 5, 2016 with various activities at
plant and offices.

At Nandesari, a poster welcomed the workers declaring
the theme of this year 'Go Wild for Life'. The topic of
wildlife conservation was discussed in the morning
meeting and everyone took the Environment Pledge as a
commitment to be a guardian to the biodiversity of India.
A tree plantation activity followed in which senior
managers planted trees around the factory premises.

At Moxi, workers were briefed about the ethos of
conservation and how it is every individual's behavioral
responsibility to sustain the legacy of nature inherited
down the generations. Everyone took the environment
pledge and committed themselves to conserve nature
and maintain ecological harmony. People from various
departments were invited to undertake tree plantation in
the factory premises.

At Vadodara HO, employees volunteered to join tree
plantation activities undertaken by 'Pagdand'. The event
'Vruksh Utsav' saw participation from students,
employees and citizens of Vadodara who performed tree
plantation at two designated areas, namely Kendriya
Vidyalaya School at Harni and Sir Sayajirao General (SSG)
Hospital grounds. The trees would be tagged and
monitored for growth via GPS and those who planted the
trees took an oath to visit the trees and invest some time in
their upkeep.

Dahej site employees participated in two competitions
hosted by SHE department to raise eco-awareness and
build responsibility towards nature. Employees
participated in a poster making competition on subject of
environment protection. Everyone was provided chart
paper and colour pens to unleash their vivid imagination
and portray an appealing picture advocating the green
cause. In another competition, employees were asked to
prepare slogans on the theme of water conservation.
Looking at the grim drought situation and growing human
dependence on water sources, conserving water sources
and replenishing ground water table is the need of the
hour. Winners of these competitions were felicitated
subsequently.

How about a full marathon next season? Bring it on!
In an example of teamwork and solidarity, a five member
contingent from INEOS Styrolution India Limited (SIL)
participated in the 15-km leg of the Vadodara
International Half Marathon held on February 7, 2016.

The participants Mauricio Tomazi (Manufacturing), Vikas
Agrawal (Sales & Marketing), Sunil Suvarna (Finance &
Accounts), Jayesh Chauhan and Anil Varma (I.T) geared up
in a team uniform of white t-shirts with a message “Know
Pain, Know Gain” written on it. The group conditioned
themselves for this long distance running by practicing
some trial kilometres leading up to the event. They kept
the rules simple –keep yourself hydrated, do basic
stretching before and after do not over-exert the body
and run for fun instead of run-to-win.

The cool comrades assembled at the start-line early in the
morning. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel
flagged off the race and the team took advantage of the
late sunrise on a winter morning to clock maximum
kilometres in the cool climate. The runners were given a
boost by the cheering crowd and live bands playing along
the roadside. Refreshment and recharge spots at regular
intervals ensured the runners were never away from any
assistance if need be.
