Amos Ikechukwu Christian 1997, Nigeria His aim is to create art that speaks to people and piques their curiosity. The works tell stories and want to show the world the independence and autonomy that Nigerian youths enjoy as they grow up. Through his art, Christian Amos Ikechukwu transforms social instances into an immortal and uncommon art. Eline Klein 1959, Netherlands Eline Klein is a Dutch photographer. As an artist she is a storyteller. The aim is to challenge the viewer to look beyond the surface of things/photographs. For her series ‘Stereo Stories’ and ‘Hidden Histories’ she was strolling around on flea markets where strange objects and forgotten photographs call her attention. It’s mostly the story behind them which fascinate Klein. By placing her photos of hidden stories in a new context, she creates a new story and with it a new life for objects or situations. ‘Still There’ is a tryptic of photographs Eline Klein created for the occasion of the 20th anniversary of VCRB Gallery. The photographs are a visual translation of a personal, nostalgic feeling of a certain place where time has stood still. A given described by the artist as comforting.

Martin C. Herbst 1965, Austria Martin C. Herbst pushes the limits of traditional painting. Most of his delicately executed paintings expand to the third dimension without denying theirtwo-dimensional origin. His artistic career has been shaped by his lifelong interest in the human face and figure and by the question how to transform a portrait of a certain individual into a transpersonal and touching artwork. He understands (portrait) painting as a search for universal validity that is somehow larger than life. In the spheres series faces appear on one half of mirror-polished spheres and look like mysterious moonfaces. The artist uses highly polished stainless steel spheres and paints a distorted face on one half. The other half of the sphere remains unpainted and functions as a powerful distorting mirror. This series is inspired by a famous painting of the Italian Mannerism, Parmigianino’s Self-portrait in a Convex Mirror.
Pei-Hsuan Wang 1987, Taiwan Pei-Hsuan Wang’s practice engages with her identity, much of which is shaped by the artist and her family’s diasporic journey from Taiwan to the United States. Folklore, family history, inter-cultural narratives and geopolitical musings across time are interwoven into her work, which takes the form of sculpture, installation, drawing, and video. The artist’s recent projects are tributes and prayers to her kinship. Her 13-year-old niece Iris, a first-generation Taiwanese American, has inspired a body of work that imagines racial and cultural hybridity alongside various archetypes in nature and in myths. Animal presences become a kind of guardian and portal, giving form to the inner experience. Wang has exhibited work at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Hong-Gah Museum, Taipei, and the National Gallery of Indonesia, among others.
