Perry’s practice is centralised
around exploration. Through
colour theory, abstraction and a
style somewhat resembling pop
art, the artist uses his canvases
as a way to investigate themes
that are deeply personal to his
life experiences. Currently, the
subjects that interest him
revolve around masculinity and
femininity, domesticity, mental
health and relationships. These
themes come together as
important factors in creating
what we call identity, home,
and a sense of belonging.
The artist himself uses these
investigations as a way to
navigate his own life, in a way
that strengthens his connection
to the world around him

Born in Singapore, raised in
London, Lawrence Perry now
works out of his Camden studio
after graduating from the Slade
School of Fine Art in 2021.
Lawrence first came to the
public eye in 2016 when his
work as an in-house artist for
an anti-Brexit lobbyist group
was picked up by British GQ.
He has gone on to have
solo shows including ‘Merely A
Dream” in Covent Garden and
been noted by Hunger
magazine as “one of the most
promising artists of the
moment”, with collectors
including Paul Weller of The
Jam. His work has since
featured in Alessandro
Michele’s campaign for Gucci,
“Gucci, The Ritual”. Lawrence is
establishing himself as part of
the next generation of British
Pop Art, having been mentored
by the late great artist, Duggie
Fields.
