introduction

The Tuanku Abdul Rahman was established in 1957. Before this, the school was located on Baeza Avenue,
Ipoh until it was equipped with well-planned buildings and amenities on Tiger Lane, now known as Sultan
Azlan Shah Road. STAR is one of the best full boarding schools in our country and have produced many
good leaders in all areas of our country today. One of the unique features of STAR is that its hostel location is
quite different from other full boarding schools. This condition has been maintained until this day. Students
are housed in dormitory blocks that are built separately from their homes. There are six hostel blocks namely
the Black House, Red House, Yellow House, Green house, White House and Blue House. The goal is to
provide opportunities for young Malay students to pursue secondary study.

CONCLUSION

28

• Sekolah Tunku Abdul Rahman (STAR) has produced many successful students in academics
and curricula from the beginning. Although operating since 1957, it has been recognized as the
top school by the Malaysian government in 2011 for its outstanding achievement despite
serving more than a century in the education community. Although started as a school for the
Malays, the school managed to create the icons of national pride in academics and sports. May
STAR continue to play a role in producing an excellent generation for future national
development.
