Connection is such an important thing in life since the existence of mankind.
Human being like to connect with each other. It’s a natural tendency to connect
and communicate with each other. Through ages the mode of communication
has changed but not the practice of connecting with people.
For my project, I focused on or selected a day-to-day element Post (Post cards,
Letters, Envelope, Stamps and Post box) which represents connectivity as
inspiration. Modern technologies have replaced the usage of post. But it’s a
classic treasure. The feeling, the emotion which we get through reading a letter
is irreplaceable by modern gadgets.
I was fascinated by its simplicity and its quality of attaching the people
emotionally. This inspired me to further work on the design process.

The art of writing letters and sending them are lost in our digital age, but
there’s a richer experience to be had if we went back to using long-form.

RESEARCH

Post as commonly referred to as mail in commonwealth countries. It is a
system for physically transporting postcards, letters and parcels. The postal
service can be private or public.
Postal system has generally been established as government monopolies,
with a fee on the article prepaid. The proof of the payment is often in the
form of adhesive postage stamps, postage meters are also used for bulk
mailing. Post box also known as collection box into which letters can be
deposited. It also refers to private letter box for incoming mail.
Sending letters are emotional and physical connect which we miss out
nowadays. New researches show that mere act of writing by hand can
promote our physical and mental benefits, by improving the learning ability
to more positive outlook on life. According to Alena Hall, the associate editor
of Third Metric at the Huffington Post, discusses that the simple act of
sending someone a letter conveys a strong message of affection- because of
writing the letter by hand, purchasing a stamp, delivering the mail to the post
box and waiting for the recipient to receive and respond is done out of love
and interest.

Deriving from my inspiration “Post and its elements”, I have taken colours
and certain other properties like perforations from stamps and seals from
post letters and incorporated them into my garment.
