Tit * ti * late ART SHOW
A Collection of Visual Love Letters to My Breasts

by Contemporary American Artist, Stasi Bobo-Ligon

Show Description: tit • ti • late is a collection of visual love letters. A skin-sparing double mastectomy left
the skin over my breasts intact yet removed the breast tissue, nipples and areola along with hundreds of
nerve endings that carried pleasure signals to my brain. Tit*ti*late is a collection of visual love letters
reminiscing moments of arousal from nipple play lost to breast cancer.

Along with presenting 20+ works of art, I will have a conversation with four dear friends reflecting on
moments in time when we’re reminded of our common identity as having had breast cancer.

Meet LONNIE BUSH

Who Am I?
My name is Lonnie Bush, I am a professional fitness trainer with a passion to
help cancer patients.

My Short Story:
In November 2009 I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. The
most aggressive form of breast cancer a woman can battle.
I know the Lord left me here as a survivor to assist cancer patients while going
through their battle.
My Vow is to do just that!

After My Battle With Cancer I Started Giving Back
I started out donating wigs, head scarfs, paying co-pays, assisting with
groceries, utility bills, prescriptions, rides to doctor appointments, and funding
funeral cost. When the need arises and the donations have run out I assist
patients from my personal funds, and something as simple as offering
encouraging words or a shoulder to cry on.

Meet MESHALL SHUMATE

Affectionately known as “Shu”, is the President and founder of Shu Productions
with more than 20 years of film & video production experience.

Video Production became a part of my life at an early age. At age sixteen, I was
managing local R & B bands in the Kansas City Area. By the age of seventeen, I co-
wrote, produced directed and edited my first music video. By the ripe old age of
eighteen, a cousin and I had formed a production company. The company was operated
in the basement of my parent’s home. The production company produced music videos,
wedding’s, birthday parties, church affairs and special events. Next, I landed my first
professional job at Starlight Theater. Then came a position at Channel 62 television
station in master control during the day and spinning the wheels of steel by night at
KKFI (FM) community radio station. Excited to see more of the world, I moved to Los
Angeles California to study filmmaking at Columbia. After graduation, I made a career
move to Atlanta Georgia where I was hired immediately as an office production
assistant at a production company. Within two years I worked my way into the camera
department as 2nd A.C. Shortly after I steered myself into 1st A.D and 2nd A.D. roles. I
had the opportunity to work with outstanding individuals and companies such as
LaFace Records, SoSo Def Records, Hype Williams, Billy Woodruff, ESPN, and the

Summer Olympic Games - Nissan Corporation. After hard work and dedication I
reached the director’s chair, I can add clients such as; Raven Symone, Demetrius and
Juvenile to my director’s credits. As a fun-loving passionate storyteller. I made my
feature film directorial debut with original screenplay entitled: “The Girlz”. As a result,
winning first place for best narrative feature film during the Night Of The Black
Independent Film & Video Festival. My next film award was presented during the
Women In Film Preservation Competition at Spelman College. Which included a CBS
channel 46 TV interview with Karyn Greer spotlighting me as a up and coming
filmmaker. I must admit my BIGGEST accomplishment nevertheless has been beating
Breast Cancer. My quest for filmmaking only continues, steering Shu Productions into
innovating motion pictures, television, music videos, documentaries, commercials, and
photography.

Meet ANN BURGIN BLACK

Someone asked Who Am I? I can say proudly that I am one of five siblings, mother of 2,
grandmother of 3. But most importantly, I'm not one to let breast cancer define me!!! I
AM Ann Burgin Black (a dope black woman) born and raised in Kansas City.

My survival skills were ordered by GOD once the doctors uncovered the details about
my breast cancer. I found out after being divorced, laid off, and having NO HEALTH
INSURANCE. The stress showed up almost immediately, but I will not take for granted
the stress my family endured. It showed up in interesting ways of guilt, denial and
support. What kept me going was a feeling! The feeling of joy when I experienced the
love and support that I was receiving from family and friends. I know for sure that it
was all the "Grace of GOD" that got me through everything at once.

Prior to my experience, I only knew one other person that had breast cancer. This
prompted me to want to share my story. In saying that, I joined a support group at the
hospital and then became a Susan G Komen ambassador! By the grace of GOD, I’m still
here and a 14yr survivor!

Art Show profits benefiting Lonnie Bush’s “Celebration of Life” Foundation.

Along with presenting 20+ works of art, four dear friends and I will reflect on our identity
as breast cancer survivors. Art Show profits will benefit Lonnie Bush’s “Celebration of
Life” Foundation.

A “Celebration of Life” is Lonnie Bush’s passionate mission to assist women, men and
children battling breast cancer with support ranging from help with finances to putting
together fundraisers, offering rides to doctor’s appointments and sadly, even helping
with funeral arrangements. Lonnie started her foundation as soon as she recovered
from triple negative breast cancer 12 years ago.
