WHAT IS THE CONTINUING EDUCATION ADULT EDUCATION AND LITERACY PROGRAM?
The continuing education Adult Education and Literacy program offers courses designed for native and non-
native speakers who want to improve their language skills and/or gain the core skills they need to obtain a Texas
Certificate of High School Equivalency (“TxCHSE”). The program also provides pathways for adults interested in
workforce education and training certificates in Allied Health, business and trade careers. Courses are offered at
several locations at the Lone Star College and are grant-funded, so eligible students take courses at NO COST!

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY CLASSES CLASS OPTIONS
• Valid government-issued Photo ID • ABE ESOL Basic Literacy Face-to-face
• 19 years or older • ABE ESOL Beginning Virtual, Synchronous
• ABE ESOL Intermediate 8-12 weeks
Minor ages 16-18 may be • ABE ESOL Advanced
eligible for program funding with • ABE ESOL for the Workplace Twice per week in the mornings,
age-related documentation evenings or Saturdays.
• Three hour New Student Orientation
• Pre and Post-Test Assessments

LOCATIONS:
Locations vary within Harris, Montgomery and Walker county service areas.

ORIENTATIONS:
• In person orientations: Monday-Thursday 9-11 a.m. or 2-4 p.m. by appointment only.
• Virtual orientations: Monday-Thursday 8-7 p.m. by appointment only.
• Appointments are made through our website, LoneStar.edu/Adult-Education

COST:
Classes are grant-funded. No cost to eligible students. Attendance is required.

BEGINNING ESOL PROGRAM ESOL ADVANCED PROGRAM
Adult Education ESOL is designed for students interested in Workforce Professionals ESOL is designed for students
learning and improving their everyday English language interested in advancing all language skills (reading,
skills to find a job, keep a job or get a better job. Students writing, speaking and listening), putting an emphasis
