DIFFERENT STROKES
A QUARTERLY E-MAGAZINE (YEAR 2016-17)
NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY

From our patron…
“Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up
I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain…To
feel the freedom that comes from being able to
continue to make mistakes and choices-today I
choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but
embrace it.” – Kevyn Aucoin
I would begin by extending my heartiest congratulations on
the stupendous success of the School’s maiden theatrical DR. SHAYAMA CHONA
extravaganza, ‘Oliver Twist’, held at Sri Fort Auditorium on PADMASHREE & PADMABHUSHAN
21st December, 2016. The sheer grandiosity of the event and AWARDEE
the emergence of fresh talent in the form of mellifluous singers and musicians, passionate
dancers and actors, has left a lasting impression on the minds of all those who witnessed it.
I feel proud and privileged to be associated with an Institution that grooms children for the
future and propels them on a path of progressive thinking, while being firmly rooted in
traditions and instilling in children values that have stood the test of time.
I heartily congratulate the School and the Principal, Ms Anita Malhotra on the warm Farewell,
‘Safarnama’, extended to the outgoing batch of XII graders through a Havan and Citation
Ceremony. It is such events that forge a lifelong liaison between the students and teachers,
between the School and the parents and I am sure the parents of the outgoing XII graders who
attended this ceremony, would vouch for this. As they take on the world, with the kind of
grooming through School programmes and career seminars that they have received, they are
sure to excel at the university and in life beyond.
The International liaison has added another feather to the cap of achievements of the School.
It gives me immense pleasure to learn that Lotus Valley International School, Gurgaon has been
selected as one of the eight schools from India to participate in the Australia- India BRIDGE
School Partnership Project.
In the days to come, I wish and earnestly hope for the School to grow from strength to strength
and the learners to make their Alma Mater proud. On this note, I wish all the learners success
and humility, knowledge and innocence, subject expertise and commitment to ideals.
From the principal’s desk
As we come to the end of another incredible school year, I
Thank you all for supporting the school to fulfill its coveted
goal of imparting disciplined and quality Education. Our
philosophy of Education has always been meeting the
needs of the individual child. We believe that children
acquire skills and knowledge easily if we can make the
surrounding stimulating and purposeful. Academically,
this has been a stellar year.
Our students are achieving laurels and International ranks MRS. ANITA MALHOTRA
in external examinations like ‘Olympiads’ & ‘Marrs Spell STATE & CBSE NATIONAL TEACHER
Bee’. Our continually developing and evolving curriculum,
AWARDEE
together with our outstanding enrichment programme – ‘Bridging Divides- Establishing Cross
Cultural Connections’ has given our learners an unrivalled set of opportunities to act locally but
think globally.
In this era, it is of paramount importance to impart an integrated Education, hence we have
nurtured socially conscious learners by supporting selfless causes like-‘Seva-Mela’, ‘Walk for
Peace’, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhyan’,‘Cleanliness Drive’ , ‘Half Marathon’, ‘Tamana Fashion Show’
to name a few. We lay equal emphasis on both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and
it was an absolute joy to behold the incredible performances of the learners from Pre-Primary
and Primary wing during their Sports events- ‘Toon Olympics’ and UCS - ‘United Colours of
Sports. Theatre, Drama and Public Speaking are all entwined branches of the same tree.
To channelize the creative aspect of our children, we train them right from their formative
years in voice modulation & drama enactment. This was showcased through our impressive
‘Speech & Drama’ presentations by our Pre-Primary & Primary wing. These skills were honed
further by renowned Theatre personalities like Lushin Dubey & Bubbles Sabharwal who
directed our Annual production ‘Oliver Twist’, with a cast of 650 ebullient learners who
illuminated the stage with their passionate acting and mellifluous singing.
We could not have achieved what we did without your support, and we are committed to just
working away relentlessly at those areas where improvement is needed. A heartfelt gratitude
once again to the parent fraternity for their continual support and trust.
PREFACE
It was a little over five years ago that the wheels of change were put
