COVID-19 is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the virus called SARS-CoV-2
belonging to the coronavirus family. The Coronavirus epidemic has started to come to life
in China more precisely in Wuhan, in a market for the sale of fish and wild animals, such
as bats and snakes. The virus has been passed on from animals to humans and has spread
from person to person ever since.
This epidemic has given rise to a real-world pandemic causing a lockdown that has radically
changed the social habits of citizens. The way of living life, friendships, passions, and
affections has been totally distorted.

The spread of the virus and its high contagion capacity have left a trail of death and despair
and, in this dramatic panorama, all the world's nurses have played a fundamental role in
the battle against the coronavirus. Their dedication and professionalism saved human
lives.
This social media campaign by EFN shows the importance of nurses’ work and nursing in
the EU.
