European Patients’ Rights
Day

In 2007 the first European Patient Rights Day was celebrated with the aim of
protecting and defending patients' rights. Thanks to the collaboration and the
commitment all health stakeholders in each country of the European Union,
the European Day of Patients' Rights is celebrated every year.
It is essential to raise awareness of the importance of patients' rights and
everyone's responsibilities in ensuring their respect and the celebration of a
European Patient Rights Day contributes significantly to this goal. It is a
common opportunity to inform, discuss and make commitments to improve
patient rights in Europe and in each member states.

This important day continues to build greater dialogue between patients,
doctors and nurses and greater attention to what one's own rights and duties
are.
This social media campaign by EFN, celebrates the European Patients’ Rights
day and points out how nurses dedicate their time to patient care and well-
being always patients’ side.

The European Federation of Nurses Associations (EFN) was
established in 1971. The EFN represents over 36 National Nurses
Associations and its work has an effect on the daily work of 3
million nurses throughout the European Union and 6 million in
Europe. The EFN is the independent voice of the nursing
profession and its mission is to strengthen the status and practice
of the profession of nursing for the benefit of the health of the
citizens and the interests of nurses in the EU and Europe.
