Hello Wheelchair Tennis Fans! May 2017 Bill Trubey
Executive Director
Here’s a quick update regarding several CWTF events that our
organization is involved in this 2017 season.
Just a quick reminder that our annual fundraising event is coming up
soon, June 3rd at Lakewood Park Tennis Center (LPTC) from 12-4 pm.
We generate a large portion of our operating budget from this single
event- and if you can make it, please attend! It’s always a blast and this
year will mark the first year at LPTC, our newest facility sponsor and
supporter. More information at: www.cwtf.net and
www.lakewoodparkt ennis.c om/
We continue to partner with our close friends at USTA Colorado, an
organization that represents over 35,000 Colorado tennis players, clubs
and general industry. This spring, we’ll again be volunteering at the
USTA-CO Diversity Tennis Fest and Tournament which we’re hoping you
all can join, which supports inner-city tennis programs and organizations.
You can attain volunteer and event information at:

In this month’s newsletter, we’ll also be promoting Arvada’s new tennis
gem of the Rockies, Arvada Tennis Center (ATC) which is getting a well-
needed makeover and-- wait for it…an indoor 4-court permanent
structure. To help promote this amazing public facility, the CWTF will be
partnering with North-Jeffco Tennis Club (NJTC), ATC’s host tennis club
at their ‘soft’ grand-opening Sept.14-17. This event is coined the ”2nd
Annual 4x4 Tournament”. More information is at:
https://njtctennis.com/events/tourney/ With 4 live-bands, 4 breweries
and a Fast-4 scoring system, the event is sure to please everyone.
On the tournament front, the CWTF will continue to work with our
friends at Rocky Mountain Tennis Center in Boulder
https://www.rmtenniscenter.com/ who’s again providing wheelchair-
draws at two tournaments; the Babolat Boulder Open and the Fall Adult
Open. We thank Kendall, Duke and the entire RMTC staff for welcoming
our CWTF members at their fine facility.
Finally, the wonderful members and Elliott family at Grand Junction
Tennis Club will again host the 2017 Western Slope Open, which will
include a wheelchair-draw from July 21-23rd More information is available

In closing, please like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter or unless
you’re old-school like me-- just find us at our beautiful website:
www.cwtf.net where you can search our clinic schedules, instruction
programs and general information regarding the CWTF.
Hope to see you on the courts and keep rolling!

Groundbreaking ceremony for the New Arvada Tennis Center
For those who missed the groundbreaking ceremony on May 12, 2017 Here are some
pictures of the event.
The voter-approved improvements to the Arvada Tennis Center are now underway:
renovating the eight outdoor courts with post tension surfaces, adding new lights and
fences, and adding four new indoor courts and controlled access to all areas of the
Arvada Tennis Center.
During the court construction process, the Arvada Tennis Center will continue to offer
the full range of tennis activities, and our building remains open during business
hours for stringing, pro shop sales and general info. The planned reopening of the
outdoor courts is scheduled for July, with a date to be announced later. For questions
about programs, leagues, and alternative courts, please contact Michele at 303-420-
