Christys’ Spring/Summer 2017 collection is a celebration of the versatility of the hand
woven Toquila Straw material we know as Panama. In the expert hands of Christys’
craftsman, the intrinsic durability and beauty of this material is used to create fine
hats for every occasion: whether it’s a sun hat for the beach or a trilby for a wedding,
we have something for well dressed men and women across the globe. As our hats
are hand made in our Oxfordshire factory using techniques and processes that have
been perfected over our 243 year history, you can rest assured that a Christys’ hat
will last you a lifetime.

Our classic bleached, semi bleached or natural panamas are true works of art, and
with their inherent understated style, they epitomise the classic British summer. In
our fresh, new colours of Cloud Grey, Cranberry, Sky Blue and French Navy these
Christys’ iconic shapes are transformed into vibrant expressions of summer seasonal
style. We are excited to debut our new Portobello and Padstow styles as well as
introduce our expanded grade 3 Cuenca range. Our trans-seasonal lightweight
Foldaway, Hove and Kempton trilbies have been so successful we have brought them
back - in our exclusive Ink Blue, Red Wine or Light Beige it will feel like spring has
arrived, even when the weather can’t quite decide.

PANAMAS

Each panama may start life on the coastal plains of
Ecuador, but every Christys panama hat eventually
epitomises great summer style. UNESCO added the art
of hand weaving the toquilla straw (panama) hat to the
world’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List and as Christys
naturally identifies with this unique craft we continue
to make the Ecuadorian Panama the backbone of
our summer collections, as we have done for over a
century.
From the classic bleached white for a garden party
through to the sky blue for cocktails by the sea, the
panama is style personified.
Our Superfine Grade 8 is the height of panama quality
and now we have added our unique Christys’ leather
and garter band across the range. Not to be left out,
our iconic Classic Preset is also offered with this
emblem of heritage and quality which was established
in 1876 as one of the first ever global trade marks.

SPRING SUMMER 2017
PANAMA RANGE

This season we have created a sophisticated and
exclusive palette of colour and texture: elegant
Cloud Grey and Sky Blue with rich French Navy and
Cranberry are used to best effect alongside the ever
popular natural and black check, fancy open weave and
crocheted textures. Trimmed with touches of Liberty
London prints, shimmering oil effect or flame feathers,
these contemporary takes on our classic styles are
designed to flatter the wearer and compliment the
seasonal wardrobe, whether it is attending a sporting
event or celebrating in the sun.
In consultation with our customers we are debuting our
newest down brim trilby: The Portobello. This seasonal
take on our Classic Down Brim is sure to flatter and
excite in equal measure. We have also expanded the
Cuenca 3 range which provides an entry level price
point on some of our most popular shapes.

SUMMER HATS & CAPS

Crocheted raffia, braid, cottons and linen bring a cool
and relaxed Christys’ look to our spring and summer hat
collection. With a pop of colour or a dash of Liberty
print, this range provides a unique and distinctive
selection of our most popular style caps, trilbies and
sun hats.
We have expanded our raffia and straw styles and new
for this season is the Padstow - a unisex mid brim trilby,
which is sure to protect many a stylish head, whether
it’s lounging on a beach in Cornwall or rocking out at a
festival in California.
Christys’ caps are versatile, durable and stylish and
have consistently stood the test of time. Made from our
fine linen or Italian cotton twill, our caps ensure that
the wearer stands out from the crowd whilst keeping
their head cool and protected. This season we have
brought back our much loved Breton cap but made it
softer and more contemporary in feel - just right for
the modern wearer who wants something practical
and stylish. Our now famous British Ball Cap is offered
in Ink Blue, Grey Mix and Blue Mix and is combined with
the newly launched Josue and Andrea Liberty prints.
Classics with a twist of individuality that are easy to
wear for 2017 and many summers to come.
