Kerrijoy

1. Rohanmor, registered to Catherine Loughlin. Photo: Des Glynn

2 The name “Rohanmor” is actually made up of two words 59
“Rohan” and “Mor”. “Mor” is Gaelic for large, big, tall.
“Rohan” is taken from Tolkien’s “Riders of Rohan”, contained
in the “Lord of the Rings” series of books and also from the
very old Gaelic for “Tree” thus the name “Rohanmor” which
to me typifies the strength, grace and beauty of the Irish Setter,
truly a worthy companion to any mythical God in Irish folk-
lore.

Dublin Dog Show Society show takes place at the National
show centre on 27th December which means that many die
hard exhibitors spend their St Stephens day grooming and
preparing for the show. A late start time of 11:00 ensures the
party goers can have little bit of lie in and safer travels in case
of bad weather. The show centre as usual was adorned with
festive decorations and being so soon after Christmas day had
everyone in great spirits.
The Happy Dog team of Jackie and Andrea Stubbs were kept
busier than usual as they were both judging at the show. As the
show sponsors they must have been pleased with the responses
and there was always someone at the stand throughout the day
when we went by.

bred by Ralph and Sue Holmes, that Tony chose as his class
winner.
The Groups were prejudged which kept the show moving along
so that Best in Show was completed just after 6:00pm. All
credit to the team in achieveing this considering the late start.
As the last Groups were being judged the Best Baby Puppies
were prejudged and then called into the Best in Show ring
for judge Angela Hancock, well known with husband Chris
for their Hancourt Labradors and as dedicated supporteers of
the show scene. A delighted Niamh Demspey and her hombred
choclate Labrador Retiever BANNABEACH KUNG FU

Best in Show was again judged by Angela. From the ten group
winners she shortlisted the Smooth Fox Terrier, the Petit Basset
Griffon Vendeen, the English Springer Spaniel and the Whippet.
These four were then put through their paces once more before
Angela handed the Best in Show rosette to Eddie Casey and
the English Springer Spaniel. They had travelled from the UK
and this was Noah’s first show in Ireland. He is co owned with
his breeder Cam Cavallo in Australia. Noah arrived in August
with and impressive list of wins behind him and quickly made
his mark in the UK with group places at City of Birmingham
and Belfast and then Best in Show at South Wales in October.
For Reserve Best in Show Angela chose Ross Delmar’s Smooth

This tops off a great year for Ross and Stanley with 4 Best in
