CHAMPION
OF CHAMPIONS
2017
The annual Irish Champion of Champions event hosted
by Dublin Dog Show Society and generously sponsored
by Fosse Data Ireland, Happy Dog and Show Dogs Ireland
took place on Saturday 6th January. A late change of venue
saw the event move from the Green Isle Hotel in Naas to
the nearby Moran’s Red Cow Hotel. This event has been
gathering momentum as more and more Champions have
been taking part in the qualifying stakes classes throughout
the year.
Judge for the evening was well known all rounder and
Best in Show judge Nina Karlsdotter from Sweden. She has
judged many times in Ireland but was looking forward to
judging the prestigious competition and was delighted with
the quality she found.
The prejudging allowed each dog to be called individually
into the ring for Nina’s assessment. Once the guests for the
evening had arrived, presentations were made to all the
qualifiers and Nina went about selecting twelve finalists
before dinner was served. Then it was on to the final. Nina
narrowed the finalists to a final six and after another run
around for each she reduced these to just two.
A final run around and Nina awarded the top spot to the
Toy Poodle CH GRAYCO POETIC IMAGE handled on
the night by Sally Burns who co-owes Madge with Mary

Madge had also won the competition last year.
Taking the runner up spot was Sean Carroll and James
