Jack’s Terrible Fate

Jack was 14 years old and he lived in New York with
his small family; his twenty-one year old sister Janet
and his elderly father. Jack was asleep in the chair
dreaming when the phone rang.

When he answered, a man said that he would kill
him and sell his organs. He ran to tell his father but
he was so old that he spent most of the day sleeping.
His sister was on a trip with some friends so he was
practically alone and with no help.

The next day when school finished, a strange-
looking man walked up to him and pointing a gun at
him and kidnapped him. He felt desperate but could
do nothing about it. When the man was sleeping he
managed to phone his sister and told her what had
happened. She immediately phoned the police who
were able to trace the call and went to the rescue.

After he hanging up the phone, Jack fell asleep.
When he woke up, his sister was right beside him.
She had managed to save him and the father never
knew what had happened.

The Cheater

At Trinity School there were three boys: Santiago,
Marco and Renato. Renato cheated in all the
exams. He never studied, he just copied from
everyone. Marco and Santiago were witnesses. But
one day, something happened.

The class was taking a History exam and Renato
was waiting for someone to finish the exam and
copy from it. But what he didn´t realize was that
everyone had different exams because Marco and
Renato had told the teacher that Renato was a
cheater. So the teacher decided to teach him a
lesson.

Renato got all the answers wrong and when the
teacher returned the exams Renato received a zero.
The teacher called him to tell him that she knew he
was cheating. She explained to him that the exam
was his punishment to teach him not to cheat
anymore. Renato stood in front of the class and
said he regretted what he had done in all the
exams.
After that day Renato did not cheat anymore. It was
a lesson he would never forget.

DOUBLE LIFE

There was a girl, her name was Hanna
Montana, and she was a common girl, just like
any other girl. She lived only with her father.

At school she had many friends although she
wasn’t too popular. She had a double life. On
one side she was a singer, she sang like a pop
star and was very famous, not only that, she
was the most famous in Hollywood; of course
she had many concerts.

Her friends didn´t know about her double life
until one day in a concert her wig fell off, and
everybody discovered that she was Hanna
Montana. She even had another name for
herself in the band, Miley Cyrus. Lots of people
who were her fans were very surprised.

The real girl had been discovered and she
was very scared of that. Finally the girl
continued to sing and her friends and fans were
with her.

Walter Mitty’s daydreaming vs. his reality

In “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”, James Thurber
uses dramatic irony – the difference between what a
character believes and what readers know is true- to
contrast the bold hero Mitty dreams of being with the
meek person he is in real life. In this essay, I will
describe and analyze both, daydreams and real
situations, in order to understand the author’s purpose
in the use of dramatic irony.

To begin with, the author uses dramatic irony to
reveal Mitty’s desires and wishes. With regards to
Mitty’s first daydream, he imagines himself driving
fearlessly a Navy hydroplane. In reality, his wife is
criticizing him for driving the car fast, although he was
driving very slowly. Therefore, he wants a life with
more excitement and thrills.

Dramatic irony is also used to emphasize the
characters’ condition, in this case, using a thrilling
character in the daydream to show Mitty’s
monotonous life. For instance, in his third daydream,
he is a dangerous criminal on trial, when actually he is
an ordinary citizen who hears a newsboy shouting the
headlines about a trial. This reveals his monotonous
life lacking the excitement and emotion experienced
by a criminal.

Finally, dramatic irony is also used through
metaphors. In Mitty’s last daydream, he faces a firing
squad to which he shows no fear. This may be a
comparison, even an exaggeration, of his own life, how
his wife controls him and he does not do anything to
stop her doing it.

In conclusion, the use of dramatic irony does not
only give the story a hilarious course, but it is a way to
express hidden wishes and metaphors, and for
emphasizing the raw reality.

Cartoons

Everyone likes cartoons! The action, the funny
voices and the sounds combine to entertain and
thrill us. But how do these elements come together
in the way they do? The first step in making a
cartoon would be coming up with a story idea. An
idea is suggested. The story idea is written and the
pictures that are going to be the characters in the
cartoon are drawn.
If the people at the studio like it, the script and the
characters become part of the cartoon. Artists make
sure that characters are believable and fun and then
the art department uses computers to bring
together words and sounds to make the characters
come alive on the screen.

My first day of school

First, I was excited to go to school to meet
new friends and new teachers. Then my
teacher told me to sit on a chair.

At recess I saw a boy names Tom and I
got closer to him. I asked him if he wanted to
play some games with me that I knew. I told
him that it was very difficult to beat me, but
we tied at all of the games we played.

After that, I made many other friends but
recess ended and it was time to study. It was
very difficult to understand the lessons but
with practice I got better in these subjects.

Finally, I went to my house and I talked
to my mother about everything that
happened to me that day.

The Best Way to Advertise Movies

I think that the best way to advertise
movies is on TV.

Everybody watches TV so people who
watch the trailers on TV will be persuaded
to go to the cinema to watch those films.

There will be more people wanting to watch
the movie. On TV there is music, action,
colors, and technology, so people will feel
the emotion to go to watch the movie.

Edison

I read the book “Thomas A. Edison, A
Incredible Inventor”. When Thomas A. Edison
was a child he was very interested in Science
experiments. From the time he began school
he had hearing problems and that´s why his
mom taught him at home.

His first work was selling snacks and
entertaining people on the train that ran
between Port Huron and Detroit. He later
opened his own store. His last job, before he
became an incredible inventor, was as a
telegrapher.

I would tell a friend to read this book
because it traps your attention and you want
to read more until you finish it. It also gives
you important information about Thomas A.
Edison that would help you and be useful now
and in the future.

First time

I'm nervous and unknowing.
When it happened?
After my last class of the day,
Going into a weekend.
I could have saved myself then.
But I didn't.

Second Time.
I feel ashamed and confused.
How can it be?
There is no fear, ever...
Or so I thought.
What you said, hurt so much.
It took days to know
Everything you said
Was true.

Third Time.
I know what I need to,
yet it keeps me
from my happiness.
Why is it them?
I don't know.
But I don't want to.

I'm not afraid to say the truth.
I'm not scared of the future.
I think that I could move on,
But I'm not sure that I want to.

very good news; their babies were coming. Jack
happily told her to wait in the house and that he
would pick her up to take her to hospital.

On the way home Jack couldn´t believe that
he would be a dad. When Jack arrived home, he
helped Nancy to the car and took off. But when
they reached the hospital they saw that there
was no one in the hospital. It was closed! And
Jack realized it was Christmas.

Nancy began to complain of pain and Jack
told her to relax, while he thought of how they
could get a doctor. He started to think and think.
Suddenly he remembered that his cousin was a
doctor and he could help them. Jack quickly
drove to his cousin´s house who helped them.
and so Nancy gave birth to Valerie and Marisol.
The whole family was happy that two angels
