HYDRANGEA Not only are hydrangeas one of the most loved flowers in the world, they’re also reliable and simple to grow. Hydrangeas are popular among gardeners throughout because they produce stunning bouquets of clustered blooms. Many varieties are cultivated in greenhouses and gardens for their eye-catching, sometimes ball-shaped flower clusters. CANTERBURY BELLS CAMPANULA BELL FLOWER The plant owes both its trivial name and its botanical name to the bell-shaped flowers: “campanula” is the Latin word for “little bell”. Canterbury Bells feature long flower stalks and bell-shaped flowers. It’s a biennial, which means they bloom during their second year. The flowers appear in a variety of colors from blue and violet to white and pink. The Canterbury bells is odorless and therefore very suitable for gardens of people allergic to pollen. 2
DAHLIA Dahlias are considered by many professional landscapers and gardener as one of the most attractive and most requested flowers. Fun fact about Dahlias is they can be found in nearly every color except blue! 3
Helianthus Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. Its fragrant flowers have been used in sachets and perfumes. In areas of northern Nigeria, this plant has been used to treat constipation. Another fun fact about this flower is that they have citrus-like taste. They can be used for the preparation of soups, salads, curries, jellies and jams. Commonly knwon as Sunflower. Sunflower is not only attractive to the human eye, but it can be beneficial to a garden. A fun sunflower fact is young sunflowers track the sun, also referred to as heliotropism. It is frequently cultivated for its tasty, fatty seeds. In addition to being used to make cooking oil, it is also used in several manufacture processes, as bird food, as a residential garden decoration, and as feed for livestock. HIBISCUS 4
Raccoon is a mediumsized mammal found in North America, it is the largest species of the procyonid family. Raccoon is known for its distinctive black and white masklike marking on its face, it is also known for its intelligence and dexterity which RACCOON allows them to open containers and forage for food. Raccoon are omnivorous and their diet includes fruits, nuts, insects, fish and small mammals. They are nocturnal animals which are primarily active at night. 5
Cat is a small, domensticated mammal and common household pet. Newborn cats are called kittens. They have soft fur, short snouts and also retractable claws. Cats are known for their agility and hunting ability. They are natural predators of small animals like mice and bird. Cats are commonly kept as house pets but can also be farm cats and feral cats. Domestic cats are valued by humans for companionship and their adorable appearance. This is why the number of cat ladies is increasing day by day! Cats have a unique ability to adjust their body position in midair, which allows them to rotate their legs and flex their spine to land on their feet. How flexible! CAT Penguin is a flightless bird found primarily in Southern Hemisphere, especially in Antarctica. They are known for their distinctive black and white plumage and their upright, waddling walk on land. They are adorable creatures, many movies are based on them such as 'Happy Feet' and 'Penguins of Madagascar'. Penguins are adapted to life in the water and have a streamlined body, flippers instead of wings and dense feathers to keep them warm in cold temperatures. Even though penguins are flightless birds, they are excellent swimmers. PENGUIN 6
Rabbit is a small, herbivorous mammal that can be found in many parts of the world. They have long ears, short tails and powerful hind legs. Domesticated rabbits, also known as pet rabbits, are kept as companions, and known for their playful and social nature. On the other hand, wild rabbits are known for their speed and agility which allows them to escape from predators. They have a wide variety of breeds, each with distinct physical characteristics and personality traits. They are herbivorous and require a diet such as vegetables, hay and small amount of pellets. Chipmunk is a small, rodent-like animal found primarily in North America. Even so, there are a few varieties that can be found in Asia such as the Siberian chipmunk. They have distinct black and white stripes on their faces and backs. They are known for their ability to collect and store large amounts of food in their cheeks. They are omnivorous, which feed on fruits, nuts, seeds, insects and other small animals. CHIPMUNK 8
