Primary 2: Rev Up! English

Reading Aloud 1

Read the following passage aloud clearly.

Samantha wants to be a vet when she grows up. She wants to
treat sick animals. She promises herself that she will study and work hard
and diligently so that she can achieve her goal.

“Daddy, is it difficult to be a vet?” Samantha asked one day after
reading a newspaper article about a vet who had saved a dog’s life after a
hit-and-run accident.

“My dear child, nothing in life is easy. To achieve a goal, you will
need to work hard for it. After you have achieved it, you will need to work
harder to be good at what you do, if not, the best,” came Samantha’s
father’s reply. “Study hard and always give one hundred percent in all that
you do.”

Her father’s words made so much sense and Samantha is more
determined now than ever to realise her dream of becoming a vet.

Reading Aloud 2

Read the following passage aloud clearly.

Kendra was bursting with excitement as she walked to school
on a Tuesday morning.

“I can’t wait for my Science lesson today!” she thought as she
smiled to herself.

Mrs Sim, Kendra’s Science teacher, had promised to bring the
entire class down to the school’s eco-garden that day. As such, Kendra
was eager to learn about the various habitats and creatures living there.

The minute the bell rang, the students of Primary 2 Resilience
lined up and walked down to the eco-garden. Upon seeing the state of the
pond and the garden, Mrs Sim shook her head in disapproval.

“I’m sorry, class. The eco-garden is in a terrible state. We will
not be able to see any animals in the pond, much less learn about their
habitat. Let’s arrange this on another day when the eco-garden has been

spruced up,” Mrs Sim said.
Upon hearing this, Kendra shot up her hand and suggested,

“Mrs Sim, let’s help to clean up our eco-garden then! It is our responsibility

too.”
Everyone agreed and spent their Science lesson cleaning the

pond and picking up litter, much to Mrs Sim’s approval.
