Mafatu is the son of a great chief. The thing his village people
respect most is courage. Mafatu has one big fear; it is the fear of
the sea. His mother had died in a terrible storm and this made him
afraid of going fishing with his brothers.

Other boys always teased him when he would not go fishing with 5
them. His only friends are his dog, Uri and a bird named Kivi.

One day, Mafatu decided to show 10

There he built a shelter using

made a canoe and rowed back
