ELECTRIC CIRCUIT – NOTES
A simple ___________ is a system
that exhibits the capability of
electrical energy to be converted into
other forms. It is composed of
several parts such as the energy
source, wires, switch, and a load.
Simple Electric Circuit
Parts of Electric Circuit
The simplest form of energy source in a circuit is a ______. It contains chemical energy that
can be converted into electrical energy. This energy causes the charges to move in the circuit.
It has two terminals - a positive and a negative terminal. The electric current flows from
_________ end of the battery, through the wires and loads, and back to the _________ end of
the battery.
Different Sizes of Battery Lesson
_______________ serves as a passageway for Electrical Wires
_________. It connects the two terminals of the
battery to other electrical components so that
electric current can flow within the circuit. They
are usually made of copper.

Primary 5: Rocket Science
A _________ could be any device that Filament
allows electrical energy to be converted
into other forms of energy. Most common
example of a load is a ____________. AR Model –
When metal casing and metal tip are Glass cover Lightbulb
connected properly in a circuit, the Metal casing
current flows through the
_____________ increasing its
temperature. It becomes hot, and energy
leaves the filament in the form of
____________. Metal tip
Bulb
A ________ opens and closes a circuit. AR Model –
It turns the load on and off by connecting Fluorescent
and disconnecting the electrical path
(wires) in a circuit. Lamp
Switch
Animation
Open Circuit Closed Circuit
A circuit will only work if the components are properly connected. The electric current can
flow though a circuit if there is no gap between the parts of a circuit. When the battery and
bulb are properly connected with wires and there are no gaps in between, the circuit is a
______________.
When there is a gap between parts of a circuit, the bulb will not light up. The electric
current cannot flow though it. In this case, the circuit is an ______________.
4
Primary 5: Rocket Science
Metals such as copper, iron, aluminum, silver, and gold allow Copper
electric current to flow freely from them. These materials are wire
called ________________. The most commonly used
conductors are copper which can be found in most of the Plastic
wires. insulator
Meanwhile, materials such as plastic, glass, and ceramic Conductor and insulator in a wire
does not allow the flow of current though them and has a
very high electrical resistance. Such materials are called
_________________ . Electrical wires are usually coated
with rubber or plastic to avoid electric current to flow outside
or to the person who touches it.
Lesson
Engineers and electrical workers use _______________ to easily show an electric circuit. It
uses symbols to show an electric circuit connection.
