a. $22.74/hr or $47,300 yearly
2. Educational Requirements:
a. postsecondary nondegree award
3. Required licensure/certifications:
a. CPR and/or BLS certified,
certification through the National
Board of Surgical Technology and
Surgical Assisting or through the
National Center for Competency
Testing
4. Job Description:
a. They assist with operations; they prepare operating rooms, sterilize & arrange
equipment, prepare patients for surgery, count supplies to ensure no foreign
objects are retained in patients, and assist doctors during surgeries

a. The employment rate of surgical technologists is expected to grow 12% from
2016 to 2026
