Jean was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Originally trained as a nurse at Allentown Hospital and Moravian College, she worked for many years in the nursing profession. A number of family relocations to Texas and New Jersey enabled Jean to pursue additional academic interests. She studied at Sam Houston State College in Texas, and went on to earn an English Teaching Certificate from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. While living in New Jersey and Texas, she renewed an early interest in art, and began oil painting under the tutelage of several local prominent artists. Now a full-time professional oil painter, she has been recognized internationally for her work. Jean paints exclusively with oils on canvas, and her style is realistic, often described as 'representational art' by current nomenclature. Her primary subjects are still lifes, florals, garden scenes, landscapes, and western US themes. With precise brushwork and a love of detail, she concentrates on the fine replication of her subjects. Often moved by a certain scene or object, her goal is to capture those emotional aspects, and hopefully stimulate similar feelings in the mind of the viewer of her works. In recent years, Jean has won numerous awards in local and national shows, and has been selected for many juried shows. Her works are held by collectors in the US, and in many countries around the world. She is a Signature Member of American Women Artists (AWA), Signature Member of National Society of Artists (NSA), Signature Member of Western Artists of America (WAA), and is also a current Associate Member of Women Artists of the West (WAOW), and Oil Painters of America (OPA). Jean currently resides in Fulshear, Texas. Oil Jean R. Olliver Website: https://www.jeanolliverart.com/ Instagram: 92

95 Crystal Orlando was born and raised in Central Texas. From childhood, she has always had a strong connection with animals. At around 12 years old, she began working at a horse barn in exchange for riding lessons. She has also always had an interest in equine veterinary medicine and received her A.A.S. specializing in Equine Science from North Central Texas College in Gainesville, TX. During her time in North Texas, she became a professional horse trainer working for facilities in Texas and southern Oklahoma, including Leroy Ashcraft World Champion Cutting Horses, and a United States Polo Association Certified Umpire. Although it was obvious that she could have had a brilliant career in the equestrian world, her heart was pulling her in a different direction. All her life she has been compelled to draw. In all her endeavors a sketchbook was not far away. Crystal has been showing and selling her drawings from 12 years old. She has always studied other master’s art to increase her drawing skills. In 2012 Orlando became a full- time professional artist. She explored the possibility of becoming an oil painter. She studied color theory and oil painting with world renown abstract artist Kay Griffith. Learning how to paint the illusion of 3- dimensional space was important to her. She quickly excelled with oil painting but realized her first love was working in greyscales. Crystal is primarily self- taught in graphite and charcoal. In 2013 and 2014 Crystal was invited to participate in Gala Fundraiser events towards the former First Lady, Claudia Johnson’s, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. In 2016, The University of Texas granted Crystal a month-long solo show in the Wildflower Center’s prestigious Carriage House. The National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY has sold her wildlife drawing prints in their official gift shop. In 2018 she was scouted by Royal Artist Darren Baker to join Art London Dubai. Two of her drawings were auctioned through his foundation Art and Mind at Kensington Palace in London. She is currently represented by Griffith Fine Art Gallery in Salado, TX; Windberg Fine Art Center for Fine Art Prints, and Amaran in Jackson Hole, WY. She has participated in multiple solo, group and museum shows across Texas and the U.S. In 2019 Crystal was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. During her fight and recovery, she slowed down production and played with technique again. She is now NED and back full time in the studio again. Crystal currently has a studio in her home in Moody, TX, along with her 8-year-old daughter. Born in sight of old Fort Reno in Oklahoma, Judy grew up in the high plains of Texas and in Oklahoma. Animals have been a large part of Judy's life since early childhood. The southwestern environment, her love of animals, and art seemed to be the perfect ingredients that have led to her success. This combination has opened many illustration opportunities including co-illustration of the 1982 Western Heritage Award winning book, "Saddles", the watercolor cover illustration of the special All American Futurity Issue of "Speedhorse" magazine and the cover of the University of Oklahoma Press' book, "The Quarter Running Horse," cover and article illustration for "Outdoor Oklahoma" magazine. All animals hold a fascination for Judy and she enjoys portraying them in pencil, watercolor, oil etchings, hand pulled lithographs, and hand pulled serigraphs. Commissioned pet portraits have been a steady business for Judy. She is very particular about the details of each animal she paints. Judy has been involved in the commercial art field with product design and illustration. In 2003 she took her love of the southwest and animals in a new direction with silver and gemstone wearable art. Silversmithing has become an addition to her creative endeavors. The year 2004 began with Judy's participation in the "Spirit of the Buffalo" project sponsored by the Oklahoma Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. Her contribution to this project was to design and paint two life size fiberglass buffaloes, one sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield and one sponsored by the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The project has been documented with pictures of buffaloes in a book, "Spirit of the Buffalo, Oklahoma's Past and Future," by Linda Millier Bosteels, published by The Oklahoma Heritage Association. Judy and her artist husband have been long time residents of Norman, Oklahoma, where they maintain their studio. Her paintings are in many private collections throughout the country and have won numerous awards. Judy's painting, "Tall Grass Turkeys" won the prestigious F & M Bank Award at the 1995 NatureWorks Wildlife Art Show, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Judy is a member of Women Artist of the West and has shown with the American Academy of Equine Art. A return to the University of Oklahoma opened new doors of creativity for Judy with a BFA in Printmaking (1995), which includes Lithography, Etching and Serigraphy. A passion for nature has made wildlife and the western way of life the primary focus of my work. Growing up in Topeka, Kansas, horses were the favorite subjects of my childhood drawings. Living in Colorado for many years gave me a great appreciation for our North American wildlife. With a recent move back to my home state of Kansas, I am enjoying discovering new subjects. Travels to National Parks, nature preserves and rodeos and ranches in America continually provide me with inspiration for my paintings of life in our remarkable country. I am drawn to intimate views of animals, people and their surroundings and particularly love to portray the way light enriches the drama of a painting. I attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas as a Fine Art major and have taken numerous workshops with admired artists. My primary mediums are oil, pastel and pencil and I live and work in Topeka, KS. Oil Mary Lou Pape Website: https://www.marypape.com/ 100

102 Years ago I returned to finish my BA in Business. An art class was a prerequisite so I signed up for Art Appreciation. In this class I received my first B. Being just a little stubborn and antagonistic, I signed up for another art course. I knew nothing about art. I was so dumb, I didn't even know what a palette or a palette knife was. The Instructor wanted us to bring 3 small jars to class. Me, I thought paint was mixed up in these. Didn't know what medium was. I asked him how we would mix up all the colors in only 3 jars. Dumb me again, open mouth insert foot again. Then he had us bring charcoal pencils to class and told us to draw eggs without a line. I had to ask the person next to me how that was suppose to work. This poor instructor had his hands full. I only got to take two art classes, but...........I learned! Little did I know that I would learn something that would tug at the heart strings so hard that it would be difficult to give up. I managed to block it out of my mind for 30 years. I was a wife & mother. Worked in Banking, Lending, owned a Water Well Business, and ran a Cattle Ranching operation with my husband. My husband was on the road working most of the time so I ran almost 24/7. Finally retirement arrived. Now it was time to do what I loved doing. There was a big problem though. I had buried those cherished art memories. I could not find them. I compare it to losing something in the computer and not being able to locate it. I was desperate, and thank heavens my college Art Instructor was willing to help me remember. I thank him for the patience he has had with me now, and way back in yester year, and I owe him my total happiness. My instructor was, & is Donald Dernovich, OPA, from Culbertson, Nebraska. Check out his website and you will see his heart on Canvas, Dernovich.com That is why my logo is: A BRUSH WITH THE HEART The subjects I paint have to touch my heart deeply. They are mostly depictions of experiences I have had in my lifetime, and one's that depict the country lifestyle that I cherish very deeply. I hope you enjoy my western art gallery and hope it touches your heart as much as it touches me. Oil Desree Pettera Website: https://desreepetteraart.com/

There are two criteria for a painting that Anne Peyton places in each of her finished pieces: One is that the final image shows respect for the subject; the second is that viewers can learn something after studying the art. They are two principles that the artist has carried over to her new career as a wildlife artist, concentrating on birds and avian art. For 20 years, Anne was one of the most sought after motorsports artists. Today, she has turned her eye and hand to the natural world. “In a way, it’s closing a circle. Birds and other wildlife were the subjects of my earliest paintings. My grandfather had a number of feeders at his Fort Collins (Colorado) home and he was very proud of the birds that visited his yard. I would spend several hours at the table sketching and painting the birds I saw.” “Painting birds may seem to be on the opposite end of the spectrum, but in truth there is a lot of similarity. Birds can be brilliantly colored or purposefully drab. They are technically difficult. The artist must be able to capture and represent the proper attitude of a bird in its natural setting.” An avid birder, Anne has spent countless hours viewing birds around Arizona and the Southwest. “Observing birds and their habits is a way to discover more about their nature – the motions a Sandhill Crane makes during preening, the way a Golden Eagle walks along the ground instead of hopping or taking a short flight, or the frantic scolding of a House Wren guarding its nest hole. Each of these actions means something for the bird and it is these actions and their meanings that I want to convey to the viewer.” Anne Peyton is based in Ahwatukee Foothills, Arizona. She is a Master Signature member of Women Artists of the West, a Signature member of the Society of Animal Artists, a Signature Artist’s Guild member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, a Signature member of the Artists For Conservation, a Signature member of the American Plains Artists, a Signature member of the American Women Artists, and an Associate member of the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylics. I was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas where I developed a love for horses, other animals and the outdoors. The spectacular sunsets and beautiful wide open spaces instilled a love of art in me at a very young age. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and an Associates Degree in Photography from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado. I am a realistic artist who paints mainly in oils. I have a passion for the outdoors and animals which is reflected in my paintings. I vary my subject matter but often paint Southwestern and Western scenes. I enjoy painting commissioned pieces of clients' dogs and other pets. My photography background has helped to enhance my painting skills. Not only has it helped me to see and compose scenes better, I am able to gather useful information in my photographs and take this back to the studio. I then create a painting using numerous photographs as reference material. I have shown in numerous juried art association shows in Amarillo, Midland, Odessa , San Angelo , and Kerville, Texas. I have also shown in Angel Fire, Las Cruses, and Ruidoso, New Mexico and Estes Park, Co. I was voted in to become a "Signature Member of the American Plains Artists" in 2007 and was selected as the "Distinguished Artist" for the 2014 Celebration of the Arts show in Midland, Texas. 114 Barby Schacher is a pastel artist who specializes in Western Art and Wildlife Art. Most of the inspiration for her artwork comes from growing up on a small cattle ranch and living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with its gorgeous, wild scenery and abundant wildlife. Horses were a constant and impressionable part of her childhood back on the family ranch overlooking the beautiful Clearwater River Valley and picturesque Kamiah, Idaho. When she wasn’t riding horses, she was sketching them or dreaming about them during school classes, which landed her a few scolding’s from her teachers! The horses she and her siblings (along with many friends and “town kids”) rode were primarily ranch horses. They were trained by her dad and were trustworthy and dependable. He used the horses to herd cattle and to pack into the surrounding mountains to fish in the area’s pristine mountain lakes and during hunting season. As a result, the horses had to be rock solid, sure-footed, safe and dependable, as well as “kid proof.” They were also used for 4-H and in the arena to compete in local gymkhanas and area rodeos, which was the absolute “highlight” of Barby’s early years. Unfortunately, her parents would divorce, and the ranch, horses, and the cattle were eventually sold. Her family moved to town just before high school. Life had drastically changed and would take many twists and turns over the next several years. It would be decades before Barby would ride or take up artwork once again. Eventually in 2012, Barby started creating art once again. First with graphite and a few years later in pastels. In 2015 and 2016, she was honored to have two of her graphite drawings published, one as a Featured Artist n Artsy Shark and the other in Strokes of Genius: The Best of Drawing. Today, she primarily paints what she is most familiar with from those “early years” such as cattle, North American wildlife, and especially horses. 118 James (Jim) Stewart, is a retired architerctural designer in the commercial real estate development business, who has had a passion for painting since the late 1950s. James is a native Texas, born in Lubbock in 1942 and from his early years was fascinated by paintings and illustrations. After high school, he served six months active duty in the US Army, then enrolled at McMurray University in the spring of 1962. As an art major he became a muralist, ‘plein air’ and studio painter working in all mediums. In addition, he served as the college Gallery Master, student assistant to the Department Head, was a volunteer assistant with the Abilene art museum, was a commercial advertising artist for the local Channel 11 television studio. He was twice awarded in collegiate division art shows. His mural, Texas Under Six Flags, still remains in the J. Rollins Library at McMurray University. Jim’s professional career was centered in Dallas where he served as VP of Architecture for the Vantage Companies ‘67-’77, Projects Design and Development Manager for the Collins—Ridnour Company ‘78—’83, VP of Project Design and Development for Centre Development ‘83—’92 and VP of Development for Champion Partners ‘93—’03. Throughout his professional career he kept his interest in painting by producing commission works and golf illustrations, however this took a backseat to his many sports interest. In retrospect he muses, “I should have just painted. I was never injured by a paintbrush.” After retiring in mid-2003, he and his wife and some close friends, moved to Lake Chapela, Mexico, which lies just south of Guadalajara, where they lived until returning to Texas in December of 2008. In addition to being an avid golfer, Jim reignited his passion for painting in 2010 and received Best of Show in his first juried event. He has been painting professionally since 2011. To date, he was been awarded and represented in fifty six juried invitational, regional, national and international exhibitions. He is a currently a Signature Member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters, a Signature Member of the Society of Watercolor Artists, a member of the Lake Granbury Art Association, and the Pecan Plantation Art Meritorious Awards. T.W. ‘Pops’ Vanya has been painting since 2000 but that’s just recently. His career has not always followed the way of the artist: A Houston Police Officer, as delivery boat crew in the yachting industry, a cabinet maker, an iron worker, a life guard and a few other pursuits along the way lead interestingly enough, to the world of western art. Pops studied fine art in the early 70’s at the University of Houston. Concentrating on life drawing and 3-D Design he eventually ended up as an oil painter after spending 30 years working only in graphite and charcoal on paper. He picked up the brush in 2000 at the encouragement of a patron. In the flash of an eye he has spent the last 22 years perfecting his painting skills. He and his wife Kathy now make their home in the rural community of Somerville in central Texas. Their home is 114 years old and now includes a studio that he built across the courtyard. They live close to the cattle, horses, ranches, cowboys and people he loves to portray. Oil T.W. Vanya 124 Website: https://www.twvanyafineart.com/ Instagram: instagram.com/twvanyafineart/

Lloyd painted intermittently since childhood without formal training until 2003, where he became a student of Richard Skurla, owner of the Silver Maple Gallery, and studied with Richard and other artists for the next six years. Since 2009 Lloyd has directed his focus full time to his art in a studio on his ranch. Raised in a family dedicated to preserving the farm and ranch lifestyle, Lloyd presents an insight and appreciation of Western Art on a personal, day to day level. Lloyd and his wife, Teresa, in addition to working their own livestock, enjoy every opportunity to visit other ranches. They also admire old architecture and visit many historical towns throughout Texas. This not only gives Lloyd the inspiration to paint outdoors, but to paint old structures in different light and angles. The colors and values come to life on canvas. Lloyd's choice of medium is oils and with a wide variety of brush strokes and palette knife, his goal is to furnish collectors and admirers a tranquil enjoyment of his compositions with an occasional WOW factor. His compositions have been in several juried shows throughout Texas and the USA, in which he has placed Best in Show, first, second, third, honorable mention, artists' & people's choice awards. Lloyd has served as a juror for the Region XII Visual Arts Scholastic Event Invitation for the Central Texas area 2006 - 2015. Lloyd has also been a judge for the Bosque Arts Club in Clifton Texas, of which he and his wife are now members of the Bosque Arts Center. I was born and raised in Texas and the largest part of my work depicts events that have taken place here. My father was a professional western artist, so being an artist is all I’ve ever wanted to do. He greatly influenced my love of western art and the cowboy way of life. I can’t say that I am a genuine cowboy, but I have a great deal of experience in the work a cowboy does. I feel that having personal experience with the subject matter I am creating is very important for authenticity. I can tell a story about every piece I do and try to create them in a way that people can relate to the story I’m trying to tell. I have been working as an artist for over forty years along with a successful career as an educator at Canyon High School where I taught art and computer graphics. After 28 years in education, I am now pursuing art on a full-time basis. I maintain my studio and gallery a couple of miles south of Canyon where I reside with my wife Lisa. We have two children, Ellie who is a teacher and Seth who is a saddle-maker. My work has been accepted in numerous shows over the years including: The Mountain Oyster show and sale, The American Plains Artist Show, The Bosque Classic, The Calgary Stampede Artist Gallery, Cowboy True, The Breckinridge Fine Art Juried Show and Sale, and the Stamford Cowboy Reunion Art Preview Party and Sale, along with many, many others. I have garnered numerous awards and have artwork in collections throughout the country. I am also a founding member of the Western Artist Roundup. This group is dedicated to producing fine art that preserves our western heritage. 130 Medium Gary Ward Website: https://www.grwardwesternart.com/

135 Bennie has been interested in art all of her life entering several shows and won several awards. Living in “Cowboy Country”, Western Art holds a fascination for her which reflects in the art she creates; whether it is the historical west or contemporary western life, it is her passion to capture those fleeting moments of the real 'West' as she recreates this experience on canvas and paper in her studio creating oil paintings and pencil drawings many hours each day for others to enjoy. She has studied fine arts at the Art Students League of Denver, three years of figure drawing and still life at Red Rocks College in Golden, Colorado, several years of oil painting techniques online with several instructors who are the best; as well as Scottsdale Art School in Scottsdale, Arizona and several years of childhood art to win National Awards at Scholastic Art Awards in New York. Her models are paid models for which all of them are professional and I travel many miles to acquire them. I am extremely grateful for the privilege to have access to these models. Hands on instruction and experience over a lifetime has provided Bennie with a strong foundation in art for others to enjoy. Oil Bennie Woods Website: https://www.benniewoods.com/
