Introduction

In doing E-book on the topic of Asking and Giving
directions, we aim to use a correct and appropriate language
to ask and give directions, to learn vocabulary about places
and traffic sign, to read aloud expressions used to give
directions, to ask and give direction about how to get to
somewhere.

We hope the E-book Asking and Giving directions will help
to reader can communicate with foreigners and also able to
give advice about important places correctly.

In addition, we would like to use this opportunity to
express our gratitute to officers from library, bookstore, and
the teacher Miss Inteera Patcha who help teach how to
create projects and our friends who collaborated on this

When Giving
Directions in English




Giving directions usually consists of two sets of
instructions.
-In the first set: Say “Go to” and tell the listener
what street, building, office
number, etc – or – how far they need to go.
-In the second set: Say “Then” and tell the listener
what to do when they get there. (turn left, turn right,
it’s on the left, etc.)
Giving even very complicated directions is just a
repetition of these two steps.

points to remember when asking for and giving directions.

ตรงไปข้างหน้า = go straight / go straight on / go
straight ahead / go straight down.
เดินผ่าน = walk past (ชื่อสถานที่) หรือ go past (ชื่อ

WHITELINES  Broken White Line:
painted on the
pavement indicate you may change
traffic traveling in lanes if it is safe to
your direction. do so. Solid White
Line: requires you to
stay within the lane
and also marks the
shoulder of the
roadway.

YELLOW LINES: mark the center of a two-way road
used for two-way traffic. You may pass on a two-
way road if the yellow center line is broken. When a
solid and a broken yellow line are together, you must
not pass if you are driving next to the solid line. Two
solid yellow lines mean no passing. Never drive to the
left of these lines.
