Anisa Nieto’s signing Charger Spotlight
Congratulations to Anisa Nieto, a senior at Veterans Memorial ECHS, as she
signed a letter of intent on Friday, March 6, 2020 to play golf for the NCAA Division
III Tornados of Concordia University in Austin.
Sports:
VM Track: 1st Place 1:33.18 Boys 800m Relay Jesse Gonzalez, Michael Garza,
Diego Hinojosa, and Edgar Nohpal at Roberto Garza Relays. Michael Garza 1st
Place Long Jump 21’7” and Diego Hinojosa 41’4” 1st Place in the Triple Jump.
VM Boys & Girls Soccer: Our soccer teams defeated Valley View and Porter
last week. Our boys’ team is leading the district in 1st place and our girls team in
currently in 2nd place..

Sofia Cortez Congratulations to Sofia Natalia Cortez, who earned FIRST PLACE out of
42 schools while competing in the event Medical Photography at the Area
7 HOSA event this weekend. Sofia will be traveling to Galveston on April
1st to compete at the State level!
Congratulations to Robert Stone for placing 2nd in the category of
Physics and Astronomy at the Regional Science Fair. He will be ad-
vancing to state competition!

ECHS has it’s first All State Jazz Member: Rafael Longoria
earned 4th Chair in the Jazz I All State Band. Other members
who also ranked high include Orlando Perez 14th, Michael
Arizmendi 15th, and Robert Stone 12th.

Congratulations to our Estudiantina who participated in the 16th
Annual Brownsville Estudiantina Contest. They received a
“Superior” rating from the judges! That’s the highest rating possi-
ble at the competition
Congratulations to our Lady Charger volleyball team on another
great season. The team won the district title and advanced to the
state playoffs.
Our football team ended the 2019 season with a great victory over
La Joya Palmview Lobos by a score of 34-24.
