SPEAKER PROFILE AND OUTLINE OF TALK

TPr Ts Norliza Hashim since 2017 is a Chief
Executive Officer of Urbanice Malaysia,
[Companies Limited by Guarantee (CLBG) of
Ministry of Urban Well-being, Housing and
Local Government, Malaysia]. She is a
Registered Town Planner and Registered
Professional Technologist (Building &
Construction Technology). She has worked in
11 countries in developing various township
masterplans namely India, China, Pakistan,
Indonesia, Mongolia, Russia, Africa,
Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, United Arab
Emirates and Philippines.

Her key roles include

- develop and create awareness regarding programs and projects that
promote the sustainability agenda in Malaysia and other cities and
nations;

- play an instrumental role in developing new format in Urban Planning
by introducing the Comprehensive Development Plan System in Malaysia;
and

- involves in Developing Malaysia Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Cities Roadmap framework which will guide Local Governments, private
sectors and organizations to prepare their action plans and roadmap
towards the sustainable agenda.

Over the years, she has been actively contributing as the Managing
Director of AJM Planning and Urban Design Group Sdn. Bhd., the
Founding Director of Malaysian Institute of Planners Low Carbon Cities &
Sustainability Centre, a Committee Member of Accreditation and
Qualification Committee, a member of Leadership Council of Sustainable
Development Solutions Network Malaysia and a Fellow Member of
Institut Masa Depan Malaysia until now.

Apart from that, she was one of the Board of Town Planners Malaysia
(2003-2017), the Panel Member of Industry Town and Regional Planning
Centre of Studies, Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Survey, University
Technology MARA (2020-2022), a member of Steering Committee Greater
Kuala Lumpur National Key Economic Area (2010-2011), the Council
Member of International Federation of Housing and Planning, United
Nation - Habitat Accredited Organization (2017-2019) and a member of
Malaysian Board of Technologist (2018 to 2020).

Additional to her substantial appointments, she was the president of
Malaysian Institute of Planners (2005-2011), Vice President South-east
Asia Region Commonwealth Association of Planners (2007-2009) and the
Chairman Penang Platform for Sustainable Urbanisation (PPSU) in Asia
Pacific Secretary General United Nation - Habitat Accredited
Organization (2011-2018).

In 2014, she was awarded with the Malaysia Top 10 National Women
Entrepreneur Award, the Winner of Design and Style and award of Great
Women of Our Time from Women’s Weekly in 2015 and Planner of the
Year award in 2018 from Malaysian Institute of Planners.

She is also active in research and publication. Since 2010, she has
presented at least 250 papers locally and internationally. This
exceptional lady is a leader, manager, a motivator and a team player with
the strength in strategic planning and thinking with creative and
innovative solutions, and the ability to adapt to change.
